Violent and Dangerous: America's Sovereign Citizens Movement [Barf Alert]
Opposing Views ^ | 5-15-11 | Southern Poverty Law Center

Posted on 05/15/2011 5:43:17 PM PDT by Mozilla

The strange subculture of the sovereign citizens movement, whose adherents hold truly bizarre, complex anti-government beliefs, has been growing at a fast pace since the late 2000s. Sovereigns believe that they — not judges, juries, law enforcement or elected officials — get to decide which laws to obey and which to ignore, and they don't think they should have to pay taxes.

Sovereigns are clogging up the courts with indecipherable filings and when cornered, many of them lash out in rage, frustration and, in the most extreme cases, acts of deadly violence, usually directed against government officials. In May 2010, for example, a father-son team of sovereigns murdered two police officers with an assault rifle when they were pulled over on the interstate while traveling through West Memphis, Ark.

The movement is rooted in racism and anti-Semitism, though most sovereigns, many of whom are African American, are unaware of their beliefs' origins. In the early 1980s, the sovereign citizens movement mostly attracted white supremacists and anti-Semites, mainly because sovereign theories originated in groups that saw Jews as working behind the scenes to manipulate financial institutions and control the government.

[snip]

The contemporary sovereign belief system is based on a decades-old conspiracy theory. At some point in history, sovereigns believe, the American government set up by the founding fathers — with a legal system the sovereigns refer to as "common law" — was secretly replaced by a new government system based on admiralty law, the law of the sea and international commerce. Under common law, or so they believe, the sovereigns would be free men. Under admiralty law, they are slaves, and secret government forces have a vested interest in keeping them that way.

They portrayed ANYONE who believes in smaller government as a terrorist and cop killer.

Since “the late 2000s”?

Would that be from around the year 2090?

Sounds like Charlie Wrangle, Tim Geithner, and Eric Holder could be racist, sovereign citizens.

At least we know Wrangle and Holder are racists; don't know about Geithner. He might just be a Marxist.

[The movement is rooted in racism and anti-Semitism, though most sovereigns, many of whom are African American, are unaware of their beliefs’ origins.]

These people are smoking crack. I suspect most people are in it because they are over taxed.

But, going to the anti-semitic question, it is certainly true that jews gravitated to the banking business because of descrimination against them. If the banks are getting bailed out while others fail, and Goldman Sachs runs the Fed, then one might wonder how some would not put two and two together. Its the same as if you hear someone blew themselves up with a suicide vest, is it anti-Islam to suspect it was a muslim? I don’t know how you deal with reality in a politically correct world.

..”a father-son team of sovereigns murdered two police officers “

That should excite the that rapper invited to the White House and his sponsors.

The neverending human toll of leftist, DNC hate: murder, rape, assault, is absolutely mind-boggling in it’s enormity.

So Obama, Holder, Geithner, Kerry, Rangel, Dodd, et al are all "Sovereigns" then?

Though the authors see nothing curious whatsoever about African-Americans voting with near-unanimity for the Party of Slavery™.

The Democrat party was the Party of Slavery™ at its founding two centuries ago, and it remains the Party of Slavery™ today.

The SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) is itself a radical organization, and WAY more dangerous than the “Sovereign Citizen” movement.

Oh boy.
Where to even start with this bunch of Americanophobes. They will not call laraza a racist entity. They will not call the black panthers a racist entity. They will not call muslim terrorists terrorists. But WE, and by we, I mean Patriotic Americans of any color or ethnicity, are racists, bigots, homophobes, islamophobes, antisemites, (and that includes us Jews who dare to be Conservatives.)
THEY are liars and scam artists, race pimps and victim creators, traitorous conspiracists who should not have a single cent’s worth of credibility.

Southern Poverty Law Center = Morris Dees = Fund-raising from white liberals.

The SPLC is the most cynical, money-driven remnant of the civil rights movement.

Morris Dees -- a second rate attorney in Montgomery, AL -- founded it to make money, raking in contributions from white liberals with a guilt complex. It worked -- making Morris Dees rich beyond his wildest imagination ($80 plus million in the bank).

The operation continues to thrive today by making up things that those same white liberals with a guilt complex want to hear -- and selling it to the networks or the government. The SPLC's biggest customer today is probably Janet Napolitano and the Dept. of Homeland Security.

These are truly despicable people.
