“Soylent Green.”

Is it good with a nice Cianti and fava beans?

Stocks won’t mean squat if you’re starving.

Put a barrel on the end of that stock and get your own food.

Droughts in China, Russia, and you know however bad it is elsewhere it will be ten times worse in Africa. Get ready for the starving, pot-bellied, fly-encrusted children.

Are you trying to imply something?

US farm report (Pro ethanol)

Lots of water out there. Farmers here in Michigan are looking at insurance to carry them.

If there is a food shortage you’d think that would be bad for ag stocks.

“I’m from central Mo. and the farmers are having a hell of a time trying to get their corn crop planted because of all the wet weather.”

I’m from central Mo also, near Bland/Belle, live in St Charles now and around here not much planting of corn has gone on.

I think they are looking at ETF’s.

“Can you explain North Korea to me?”

Its a totally sealed off society, and if you keep the troops fed you maintain order.

I've been buying today. Not fun. Spice prices are through the roof. Highest I have seen in the 23 years I've been doing this.

Wholesale fresh commodity Garlic was $.08/lb a year ago. It is now $1.03/# and higher. Black Pepper is going through the roof and is 'soft' at prices double what they were a year ago.

Ouch.

Here’s a better idea. Get out of debt, invest in your own ability to produce and store food.

What did Jeffrey Dahmer say to Lorena Bobbitt?

“Ya gonna eat that?”

Kinda like hunters shouldn’t kill animals but need to go to the grocery to get meat because that’s what everyone else does and it’s not cruel. Or, electric cars are green because you just plug them in! Same crowd of nitwits.

If this pans out, think what the price is going to be next year for beef, pork and chicken. Some one told me the other day to stock my freezer with beef now because next year it will be through the roof.

Just looking at the USDA site and their forecast for the 2010/2011 year was just 730 million bushels surplus and the 2011/12 year just 900 MB. These surpluses are less than half of the lowest supluses in earlier years and 11/12 is definitely just a forecast.

IMHO, Spice commodity pricing going through the roof has as its basis other factors:

1. The terrible weather conditions in China - specific to Garlic and vegetables.

2. California's over-regulation of their former Ag-business' virtually forcing them out of the state - specific to Garlic and Vegetables.

3. Increased affluence in China and India which have relatively recently made the transition from Survival cuisine to finer foods thus driving spice consumption.

In other words - don't stock the freezer with beef because black pepper doubled in price - but pay attention because ALL AG prices are going to go up.

Regards,

TS
