A Greater Depression
Human Events ^ | 6/7/11 | Bob Livingston

Posted on 06/07/2011 6:07:06 AM PDT by Kartographer

Currently, about 18.5 percent of American males between the ages of 18 and 55 are unemployed. About 44 million Americans are on food stamps. How long before we see riots in America like those in the Middle East and North Africa?

They may be starting already. Over the Memorial Day weekend, there were no fewer than seven incidents of riots or near riots in large crowds. Mob incidents, shootings, fights and looting broke out New York City; Rochester, N.Y.; Chicago; Miami; Myrtle Beach, N.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; Decatur, Ala.; and Boston. Beaches, water parks and streets were shut down. In recent weeks, there have been beat downs in hamburger joints, mob robberies and looting.

Trends forecaster Gerald Celente has said that when people lose everything and they have nothing else to lose, they lose it. The Federal Reserve and the Federal government have pillaged and looted and stolen about everything the American people have. But austerity is a dirty word to the elected elites. In Washington, in the States and in cities and towns across the country, elected elites are at least wishing they could raise taxes, if they are not outright doing so.

Once talking about such happening here in America was considered crazy talk of the fringe and now everyday we are hearing it more more and more and from mainstream stream people from both sides of the political spectrum. Maybe it will maybe it won't but they is sure plenty of both polical and economic 'tender' laying around right now and all it would take is the right spark to set off a conflagration that we haven't seen in our life time.

No. It will be an excuse to impose martial law.

You really don’t see a lot of panic coming from the White House over the incredible negative turn everything has taken.....especially, MSM coverage of Obama.

If this continues, it will be clear that there is a plan for “something” prior to the 2012 elections that will ensure his re-election or no election at all.

One of many reasons we’re working hard to get the heck out of Dodge City and into the country.

In the Great Depression people lost everything but we didn't have these gangbangers and thugs everywhere.

It's when people get used to sucking on the government tit and it might get taken away, that they lose it and riot. Like in Greece and the rest of Europe. And Wisconsin.

The Libs/Dems seem to be incapable of seeing any downside to the ‘divide and conquer’ strategy of hate- and fearmongering... There’s gonna be a lot of surprised people when the Frankenstein Monster they created, having taken care of their ‘enemies’, turns and destroys its creators....

Why would people riot in America?

Just walk into any gov’t services agency, etc. ... and, ask for food or med. attention. These things are READILY available for all comers and have been for decades….it’s why the taxpayers are now broke. (Actually, if there is a church in your neighborhood, you will NOT starve in America)

I suggest what passes for the civil disorder of starving masses elsewhere on the globe is, IN AMERICA, really the public expression of politically exploited and over indulged ‘malcontents’ who taxpayers have ‘carried’ for decades and who would NOT be satisfied NO MATTER what or HOW MUCH assistance they receive.

NO group or individuals in America have ANY justification to complain ...except possibly the honest and hard working taxpayers who DO NOT take THEIR grievances into the street as disorderly and destructive violence. Instead, THESE Americans vote regularly and register their opinions THAT way!!!

“One of many reasons we’re working hard to get the heck out of Dodge City and into the country.”

Good advice for many.

If you haven’t already it’s time to prepare. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

I think that we are at the very least in for a collapse much like that of Argentina’s ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yerKMQc7-w&feature=grec_index), but as a armed society with a very large entitlement minded population our collapse will be much more violent and I see many many small business wiped out by flash mob looting, and large scale violence (look at what happened just this past Memorial Day weekend). I see what I call ‘Pocket Pogroms’ taking place in many big ‘Blue’ cities and if you aren’t Amish it’s going to get Reginald Denny bad for you very quickly.

For those who haven’t prepared and would like to start or for those that have and are just interested you may download my Preparedness Manual at:

http://www.tomeaker.com/kart/preparedness1i.pdf

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

While I agree with your basic point, I have to point out that around about 1934 we saw John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bonnie & Clyde, and the Barker gang. In some cases these folks were seen as heroes because they stole from banks -- and everyone knew that the evil bankers had caused the Great Depression.

Still, I think there was a more generalized respect for law and order in the 1930's. Today, that is all out the window and if things get bad (and I expect them to) then we will see massive crime and violence.

Source on the 18.5% unemployment of males between 18 and 55?

They mentioned the stat, but no reference of where they came to that number.

Sounds credible, but doubt BLS would admit to it.

Absolutely true. But why?

Because by and large, they didn't have "nothing else to lose". They had their families. They had their friends and neighbors. They had God.

Today, after 50 years of purposeful Progressive destruction, an increasing number of Americans have nothing but government as a support system. And they are either learning that government is a poor substitute for the institutions liberals have labored to destroy - or increasingly, they are lashing out at the impotence and emptiness of their lives.

It's going to be one hot summer. If not this year then next for sure.

As the economy continues to stumble along and the outlook for Obama's reelection becomes bleak, violence in the cities and on the campuses will break out. Look for massive demonstrations against those evil corporations hoarding their profits and not hiring people.

I think it has something to do with the fact that most of the original stimulus money was never spent. The White Hut is saving that money to buy re-election and they’re confident they have enough cash to do it.
