SAVANNAH, GA (June 19, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are trying to identify a suspect shot during a home invasion this morning.
The suspect, who received a life-threatening injury, was one of three men who forced one victim into the house, pointed a gun at a 23-year-old woman sleeping with her infant son, and ran from the residence when the childs father shot at them.
The incident took place in the 2200 block of Hawthorne Street about 1 a.m. when at least two of the intruders approached a 22-year-old cousin of the father in the front yard and tried to rob him. The cousin ran into the house and the assailants followed. One suspect pointed a gun at the cousin as a second went into a bedroom and tried to rob the woman.
The 28-year-old father had been alerted by barking dogs and picked up his gun. When he heard an altercation in the living room, he walked in and opened fire on the intruders, who ran, dropping a handgun as they fled. A fourth occupant of the house picked up the handgun and fired at the fleeing intruders.
The unnamed suspect was found in a vacant lot beside the house. Items used to by one of the intruders to disguise himself were found near him. The suspect refused to provide his identity to police before being transferred to Memorial University Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition.
Detectives from the SCMPD Violent Crimes Division are attempting to identify the suspect and investigating the robbery and shooting.
Sounds like the reporter needs an editor.
I'd like to call the amberlamps for ya, but I've got all this doggone paperwork to fill out first. Now you just sit tight there for a spell until we can figger out who you is and git yo mama down here to verify it.
When it rains, it pours. Boy howdy did these 'perps ever pick the wrong house. LOL!
One evening when returning to our hotel after a fantastic Savannah seafood dinner my GPS directed us through such a neighbor hood.
It was pure scary
I use to live a few blocks away from here.
It wasn’t a dangerous neighborhood, at least our block. But, it was changing quick when we moved. The sound of gunfire and the guy killed on his front porch a few blocks in the other direction got us looking quick.
Main problem was the county building the new high school just south of the area.
Next time your in Savannah, instead of GPS, call the local Public Library. We’ll take care of you.
Actually, even the scary looking neighborhoods aren’t that bad. It’s the not quite as scary looking ones that are the worst.
Since only one perp was hit, it sounds like the victim needs some quality range time AND more ammo.
If it was me, I’d have delayed calling the amberlamps until one second after the perp stopped breathing.
If you read this article, absolutely NO descriptions of the perps are given. This means Holder’s people.
Agreed. And that reminds me.
My Springfield XMS .45 will arrive at the shop today.
Planning to get about 300 rounds for some more practice this afternoon.
XDM, not XPS.
Got distracted there...
AAARRRGHHH!!!!
Nevermind.
For more than a decade I carried a ten shot .22 semi auto as my concealed. I upgraded to a CZ 82 a few years ago. But now, my carry is a Taurus OSS DS .45 ACP and two extra mags. I’ve shot that pistol so much than I don’t even have to try and acquire the sight picture from ten yards and in. It is one very fine weapon and I am entrusting my life to it. The world is changing my FRiend. Be prepared
My current carry is my trusty Beretta 9mm 92FS.
The XDM .45 will be my backup.
Got a gold membership at the range, and can go train for free whenever I want.
I’ll be ready.
A bit off topic: have you ever shot a Sub2000 KelTec? Nice weapon as a stowed carbine that takes extra capacity mags and folds to 16 inches for storage.
Jon Dirtbag 1 (Critical); Jon Dirtbag 2 (Dead): Problem Solved.
One other nifty feature of the Sub 2000 is the ability to order it configured for other types of mags, a pretty handy feature if you want to match your concealed-carry weapon to your long rifle ;-)
From their website, http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/rifles/sub-2000/:
The 9mm SUB-2000 can be configured in the following magazine types: GLK17, GLK19, S&W59, BERETTA92, SIG226.
The .40 SUB-2000 can be configured in the following magazine types: GLK22, GLK23, BERETTA96, S&W4006, SIG226.
