Gingrich 2012 and Gingrich, Inc.
Swampland/Time ^ | 6-21-2011 | Michael Crowley

Posted on 06/21/2011 1:49:05 PM PDT by tennmountainman

More bad news for Newt’s Gingrich’s foundering presidential campaign: His top two fundraisers have quit, bringing the count of deserters from his 2012 operation to a whopping 18, according to the AP. His fundraising is reportedly so anemic that the candidate has been reduced to giving up his corporate jets for commercial flights. (Hopefully they don’t seat him too far back.)

Newt’s campaign so far looks like a pretty obvious fiasco. But only if you assume that victory was Newt’s exclusive goal. It’s also entirely possible that Gingrich–who has long demonstrated himself as a shrewd businessman and self-promoter–doesn’t mind lacking a serious campaign infrastructure so long as he is making headlines, appearing on TV, getting airtime in high-profile presidential debates. Why that’s? Try clicking on www.gingrichproductions.com/products. There, Gingrich is hawking a brand-new book, published only yesterday: A Nation Like No Other: Why American Exceptionalism Matters (presumably for those who have a vague sense that it’s supposed to matter, but need it explained to them). You can also buy any one of six different DVD movies, and elsewhere you can purchase any of his fourteen books–including an autographed copy of his “blockbuster” book, To Save America, for just $39.95. (An unsigned paperback edition now sells at Amazon.com for $6.50.) You might also try a “limited edition” box set of Newt’s historical novels for just $50. Another boxed set of Gingrich’s Rediscovering God in America films, complete with a book of photography by the multitalented Callista Gingrich, also goes for $50, complete with autographed certificate of authenticity.

Newt is having to fly commercial in the mob section, since his fund raising has dried up. He could always pawn his Tiffanys diamonds and at least upgrade to First Class.

I think it is a “getting old” thing (which I have been able to avoid).

I saw it first (and more slowly) with John McLaughlin — a drifting to the left as the years progress. Maybe it is a slow bribe to heaven?

But Mr. Gingrich didn’t drift — he jumped off the bridge from a Conservative to RINO land (and, actually straight into lefty-land).

And Rove is following.

My FRiends we are on our own in defending the Union as we know it. The “great thinkers” (other than Rush) have left us (and I hope the door hit them HARD on the a$$ on the way out).

The last words heard were “Hey McCain!!! Wait up!!!”

Maybe he can run as a RINO Marxist? It would add contrast to his GOP 2012 candidate platform.

Maybe his buddy Nancy could give him some cash or he could go pimp for Ethanol again. Newt is pathetic in a Pat Buchanan way and does not even realize it.

He never planned on winning. You can make money on running for President if you play your cards right. That was the only plan.

I don’t think he’s played his cards right. His campaign mess, in my opinion has hurt his “Brand”, not helped. He’s now seen as a loser, among many other flaws.

If he drops out now, you can bet he came to the same conclusion.

BTW,

Just read another Time article on the net that says Newt’s campaign is 1 million in debt. It goes on to say he is wealthy enough to fund his own campaign.

My bet is that he will not put any of his own money into his campaign.
You’ve got to sell a lot of books and video’s to fund a losing campaign.

I can’t understand why Hannity has him on so much.

I listened to Hannity today. I don’t recall hearing talking about Gingrich’s 2 staff members who quit today.

.

Agreed !

Newt was simply taking a shot at a VP position on the ticket, hoping that he would been seen as a "neutral good guy" at a possible fast and furious GOP convention battle ...

ONLY Sarah (hooray) and Mitt (yikes) and are the only two serious contenders for the GOP 2012 nomination ...

Perry (Texas) might run ... but I think he's really just looking at a VP slot ... as is Chris Christy from New Jersey ...

I know what you mean. It makes sense now.

It is being reported that he has a million dollar campaign debt.
His fund raising has bottomed out. The article I read says he is wealthy enough to fund his own campaign.

We shall soon see how much of the money he’s made from his Fox News Contract, book sales, speaking fees and video sales he’s willing to put up. My bet is he won’t.

There were also some topics around a couple months ago (?) about Newt’s debts for baubles for his horrorshow wife. Said that he owes money.
