Agreed. If he felt the need to fire something back at those who were "offended", it should've been along the lines of "Okay, I'll retract my statement and offer a contrite apology - just as soon as the forensic investigation proves me wrong."
I despise Ebert as much as the next guy, but he was right on this one. I’m still laughing about his “hilarious” jabs about Rush wearing a “sumo” sized shirt. Such a wit, coming from a guy who used to weigh a metric ton.

Ebert won his Pulitzer Prize in 1975, the first critic to win the award. The birthers would say that just proves how well planned the conspiracy is.
I’m sure the Pulitzer prize awards committee still loved Ebert in 2003-4 for his praise of Michael Moore. A leopard does not change it’s spots.
He’s very popular online. His FB page and Twitter account have tons of followers.

He posts all sorts of interesting stuff on a variety of subjects on his Blog/FB page. And about 99% of it is apolitical.
His BAC doesn’t matter that much. Everything we have seen makes it clear he went beyond the limits of real life physics.Rules and laws are real. Many generations of culture sacrificed to develop them. He and all his kid-exploitation media buddies love mocking the old rules.He held his “I am immortal” 16-yo mentality into adulthood. And we may never know how many kids got hurt or even killed following his sick and stupid example.
Reality caught up with him and now his life is of no meaning but his death is an object lesson to youngsters (and, God help us all, “admirers”) — stupid dies when stupid does.
Well, Mother Earth is very tolerant, but Father Physics can only take so much .... !
