New Yorkers better get their heckling in fast, because Glenn Beck is headed for the Lone Star State.
The TV host and commentator recently sold his New Canaan, Conn., mansion, to Maura Abeln Smith, recently named general counsel of PepsiCo, for $3.6 million. The listing agent, Lynne Leonard, confirmed Beck was headed to Texas.
"They are going to the Dallas area," Leonard told the Daily News. "They will be renting. It's secure and gated."
Dallas-based real estate blogger Candy Evans reported that Beck is moving into the 7,900-square foot estate owned by baseball player Jorge Piedra and Swarovski heiress Vanessa Piedra. Beck has leased the home, on the market for $3.9 million, for $20,000 a month. According to Evans, the home has been on the market since 2009 and was originally listed for $5.4 million.

This is significant in a certain way. I've long believed that one of the big problems with the United States in the post World War II ear, is that the intellectual and entertainment capitols are in the two cities that are least like the rest of the United States. Those two cities are New York and Los Angeles.
I'd like to see more movement to places like Texas, Tennessee and the like where there is more political and cultural sanity. Let New York and LA rot in their intellectual and cultural feces. These two cities should become synomyms for failure and decay. This is much like what Detroit is now. When people say Detroit they mean more than just a location. It's a synonym for everything that's wrong about something. My apologies to anyone here from Detroit, Wayne Country, or Michigan.
To the extent that we can get our cultural institutions out of the East and West Coast cesspools, the better off we are as a nation. It won't be easy to do this as there is a lot of inertia behind these locations, particularly New York. LA is a goner for sure. Hollywood might hang on for a while but they are finished as well. It's just that a lot of people are too stupid to realize it. Most of the big time LA players in the entertainment field already have houses in some other place. Those with resources are making their plans for their getaway.
So when people of importance say goodbye to NY and LA and it makes the news, that's a good thing.
What to do about Washington, D.C. is for a future post. That's a lot more complicated.

“I think Levin lives in Virginia. Hannity is from Long Island so he might stay there since it’s home. But I think he has mentioned buying a place in Florida (or maybe already has).”
I thought Mark Levin lives in Chicago. He broadcasts from an undisclosed bunker in Chicago.

He at times was a bit too Libertarian for my taste, but I did love his TV show when he was on the topic of American History. The things I have learned from his show and from the American History books he recommended is immeasurable. Who would have thought that I would be opening up a 2 inch thick book on George Washington and enjoy every single page, learning things never taught in school. Beck gave me a whole new appreciation for American History.

No State Income Tax. Glenn will get to keep at least an additional $2-3-Million per-year of his income, possibly $8-10-Million depending on how well his new GBTV ends up doing.
Between that and the legal right to shoot holes in anyone who comes on his property or screws with his family, and that's all the incentive you'd need.

Im not even a public person and I worry about safety in the coming years.
Go out and buy a shotgun - learn how to use it.

This was a great read and eye opener ...

We will! I live about 20 minutes from the neighborhood he will be moving to, Vaquero. It’s in Westlake, Texas. From what I understand he’s leasing a home there. My husband and I have friends that live there. My friend is in the process of getting details for me. We were just in Vaquero last month visiting them. I’ll be anxious to see if my friend ends up meeting Beck. My friend is a celebrity as well. I’m most definately not, lol. There is a private club in Vaquero. Maybe they’ll run into each other!

Everytime I tell people that we should all move to Texas they say the weather sucks. I guess it’s boiling there now.

Galts Gulch must actually be in Texas. My first thought as well !!!
Becks last show reminded me of my favorite line from John Galt...

Yes it is and dry as a bone. Mr. Beck, is most welcome in Texas. Should he see any rain on the way here, I hope he brings it, too. Most of the state is desperate for rain.
