Suggestion for Mr. Reid: shut your freaking pie-hole about the subject until you actually manage to pass a budget through the Senate.

Cantor is showing spine and standing up for conservatives.

That’s why Reid is trying to get him out of the room.

Fine. Shut down the kabuki negotiations anyway.

We know the positions of everyone and guess what - they president and senator harry reid need to put up their plan or shut up about it.

I think Cantor is keeping Boehner’s spine from collapsing.

I hope something can keep Boehner strong. However, I don't have much hope Boehner will stand strong. Somehow, some way, I fear the GOP leadership will cave.

All the Republicans should not show and when asked say, “We are waiting for the President’s plan so we can vote on it. He’s given us nothing but platitudes so far.”

Yes!!! Boehner needs to do this publicly and promise the President a vote on the House floor for WHATEVER the President wants to propose, AND he offers to have the President speak to the GOP caucus.

This would be a much smarter way to put the onus on the President than McConnell's cockamamie idea, but has the same basic motivation: We are seeing the President effectively use bogus negotitations and phony threats to help his re-election campaign. THAT IS ALL HE CARES ABOUT. He doesnt want to cut any spending and will not do anything serious about it.

This idea will totally expose his lack of seriousness. Give him the rope to hang himself.

Meanwhile, the GOP puts a debt ceiling increase with spending cuts up for a vote, through the House, and on to the Senate. Let them deal with it.

Obama invited them all to Camp David this weekend, and I just heard on the radio that Boehner said no to Camp David.

“It’s all clear now. Obama took his ball and went home because Cantor is childish. Next thing you now, Reid is going to be telling us that Cantor is thin-skinned and unwilling to be contradicted by others?”

The best one is how the Republicans are too inflexible wont compromise with my-way-or-highway Obama.

If by cave, you mean tax increases, mark it, no, that will not happen.

“So that it doesn’t matter so much who wins the election,”

Wow. Illuminating quote from Pelosi!

Many of us think that lack of election consequences is the PROBLEM not the solution.

Why is Obama at the talks?

It is Congress’s job to determine the spending, not the President’s.

He is the one that doesn’t belong at the table.

"Reid says Cantor's conduct during the sensitive White House talks have shown, in Reid's words, "he shouldn't even be at the table." Reid says other congressional leaders are negotiating in good faith as an Aug. 2 deadline approaches for raising the debt limit."

Translation: Reid: "We can't allow a Republican who actually has a spine in these talks. Send John McLame or Lindsey Graham to take his place...."

Well I'll be dammed. It was just a fantasy of mine that the SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE, who you say is in charge, and his leadership team got their collective rear ends handed to them during the great budget compromise. How much was that again? 350 MILLION when we needed 350 Billion, minimum. If that is leadership, get rid of him and the “Yes” men under him. HE is as much a member of the elitist Republican establishment that got us to this place as is Newt “The Poot” Gingrich and Karl “The Mastermind” Rove. So far I haven't seen Cantor cozy up the the elitists in the party. I stand by my fantasy. I'm a bitter clinger. I'm a Southern redneck. There is no dealing with me.

You raise the essential question. If the debt needs to be raised for what purpose is the funds/monies to be used? There has been much presented that revenues are plenty to cover essential government costs. It is a good time to get rid of non-essentials including support for groups that should be on their own, non-contributors to SS, funds to foreign governments, all czars and staffing, congressional and presidential staffing, etc. etc. It is beyond my reasoning why the USA after giving so much money over so many yeats to so many countries becomes the beggar. I would guess trillions over the years, and has to be concerned with something like Moodys or world bankers opinion as to our viability as a Nation. One thing that comes to mind is that these European bankers want money to bail out nations like Italy, Greece, Spain and the fed reserve and Bernanke need an increased USA debt limit to afford backup for some more printed Fed paper/funny notes.

He could have stopped a lot of this insane spending

Yes, he could have, but it would have been nice if our Congress, either party, could stop coming up with new ways to spend money.

Boehner is getting tired of Kabuki theatrics and negotiating with a shape-shifter.

I feel his pain.

Reid is such a little fag.

If he isn't a fag, he missed his calling. His voice sure sounds like a fag.
