BREAKING NEWS: ATF attaché calls Gunwalker 'perfect storm of idiocy'
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | July 26, 2011 | David Codrea

Posted on 07/27/2011 6:26:48 AM PDT by Texas Fossil

A Joint Staff Report prepared for Rep. Darrell Issa of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Sen. Chuck Grassley of the Senate Judiciary Committee has just been released today.

Snip>

Of significance, former ATF attaché to Mexico, Darren Gil and his deputy, Carlos Canino confirm reports made early on by Gun Rights Examiner and Sipsey Street Irregulars that not only was this information withheld from them, but also from the Mexican government—despite repeated questioning and objections leading to “screaming matches” registered with management.

This might be worthy of your Dinosaur pinglist, at least related.

It is clear that this story would have gone nowhere relying on the MSM.

So our old “argument” takes another turn.

I have been concerned that the consolidation in the MSM is dangerous, as they will just provide a conduit for pre-packaged Reuters/AP propaganda.

At the same time I have also been concerned that consolidation means a reduction in beat reporters in the smaller papers, reducing the number of people paid to ferret this stuff out.

OTOH, here we have David Codrea on the potemkin ePaper “Examiner.com”, otherwise freelancer and/or of Guns Magazine.

This story/scandal would never have seen the light of day without him.

Citizen journalism success story? Or exception that proves the rule that the 4th estate has been broken by consolidation and think about all the other horrific things going on unreported because “citizen journalism” is only picking up a tiny fraction of the heavy lifting.

What do you think?

-- USC Title 18 Section 922 should never have been on the books to begin with. --

The federal district court in the Miller case agrees with that conclusion. So did SCOTUS, in the 1939 Miller case, if the statute is applied to a firearm that "has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia ... [or] is any part of the ordinary military equipment or that its use could contribute to the common defense."

Subsequent court readings and interpretations of the Miller case (and an earlier precedent, Presser) show a remarkable degree of calm and deliberate judicial corruption.

“Limit Testimony”?

What ever happened to:

“The Truth,
The Whole Truth,
And Nothing But The Truth”?

“This story is exploding.”

Unfortunately when a tree falls in the forest a sound is only heard if someone is there at the time it falls. The mainstream media is not going to cover this story under a Democrat administration. Were a Republican in office, this story would be front page everyday in the NYT and WP as well as the lead story on NBC, CBS, CNN, and ABC.

This story will not be covered in the mainstream media because it will undercut the credibility of Obama and the Democrat party among the liberal sheeple, some of whom might start to wake up and wonder if all is not well in Camelot. If the story stays on Fox and talk radio these sheeple can remain blissfully unaware.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

How many 'Observers' does the Mexican government have sitting in on these hearings?

If none, then why isn't Mexico a interested party?

a whole lot of deliberate, well-coordinated, premeditated idiocy

Yes, a planned "accident" (sarcasm).

Thought of something last night.

How many guns were moved? We have noticed a few, but I suspect that the majority were not found.

Why is the state arming the criminals? Limiting the 2nd is part of the option, but I suspect there is more.

If even the ATF is saying a plan to restrict gun rights is a really stupid idea and people are going to be killed, it’s a really, really BAD idea and it should be shelved immediately.

ATF did say this. The Obama Administration didn’t listen.

'perfect storm of idiocy'

A metaphor for the entire Obama administration.

How many 'Observers' does the Mexican government have sitting in on these hearings?

Don't know. But the question should possibly be: Is there a Mexican Government or do the cartels rule Mexico?

I know there has been some effort to clear out some of the cartel players, but too often "money" in Mexico is the law.

Because Mexico is part of the problem and was in on it.
Recall Calderon berating gun owners as the Dems applauded.
