What a crock of crap!

It’s like saying that our laws against theft are preventing the economy from growing because it limits the income of thieves.

Sounds like a flawed analysis to me. Many illegals send the money they earn back home. If those jobs now go to US Citizens, the money is spent in the state and will actually improve the economy.

"...slowed Arizona's recovery by increasing the regulatory burden for business and raising the cost of hiring all workers in Arizona."

Are they talking about ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank financial regulation bill, and unions?

Yeah, and the fiscal year closing June 30th showed an 11% increase in revenue over the previous year, which is the most in 4 years. AND that was double the expected increase.

Yeah right. I sooo believe this article. /s

Other states should learn from its experience before following it down the same path.

Well of course we all know that it will be a massive illegal immigration onslaught from Mexico that will save our economy!

Jan Brewer is just hell bent on destroying what is left of our economy!

There is just WAAAY too much "legalism" going on for our own good!

regulations that burden businesses

LOL. Remember this, people. Its one of the few times when a Lib paper moans about how regulations burden businesses.

-——Unauthorized immigrants?——

This a euphemism for people fleeing the economic disaster that is California. The influx of refugees with money displaces those who lack money and skills and causes the economy to adjust.

bullshit, the economy in AZ is dependent on construction and tourism, both of those industries are in the doldrums for other reasons than a lack of illegal aliens

The “economic recovery” that is being stymied in AZ is generally hitting the businesses that cater to the illegals. I stopped by a large Big Lots store yesterday to find that it is closing its doors. Many of the specialty stores are already closed.

Pure nonsense. Yes, some businesses that cater to unauthorized consumers have closed, but to the extent Arizona is still in the doldrums worry over Obama’s next takeaway is the main reason.

If enforcing the law has (supposedly) negative economic consequences - the law should not be enforced?

Completely disregards the savings to the state from the taxpayer-funded benefits the illegals currently get.

(I’m assuming you’re from the Castroville area. Used to live on the Peninsula. I was actually married in Catsroville in 1971 by old Judge Blohm. Wasn’t Castroville’s or the judge’s fault how that turned out.)

If not having as many illegal aliens was hurting the economy, this would show up as a labor shortage in the areas traditionally served by these people, such as construction and restaurant service. Unemployment in these specific areas is still high, so this writer is full of Del Taco.
