We cannot win the war with wimpy RINO reps like mine (Jeff Denham, R-CA)
Exchange of email letters with my congressional rep | Aug 4 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/04/2011 1:52:39 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

August 4, 2011

Dear Mr. Robinson,

Thank you for contacting me regarding our mutual desire to see the debt limit standoff resolved so that America will not default on its loans and that our government can continue to provide the services that our seniors and veterans depend on and deserve. I appreciate hearing your thoughts about how to resolve the debt crisis. I assure you that I took the views of my constituents very seriously as I cast my vote throughout the entire debt limit crisis. While the legislation that was signed into law is not perfect, it is an effective instrument to cut government spending and restore fiscal accountability without raising taxes on American families and job creators.

After carefully reading the various legislative solutions and constituent letters on the debt crisis, I ultimately supported passage of the Budget Control Act of 2011, which was signed into law on August 2, 2011. I cast my vote to shrink a federal government that has done nothing but expand for the past 40 years. The bill requires cuts to our nation's budget that are greater than the amount that the debt ceiling is raised. Additionally, the legislation caps future spending to limit the growth of government and requires a vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. These three provisions are crucial, not only to make sure that we do not continue to pass our nation's debt onto our children, but to instill confidence among California's businesses and job creators.

I voted for the Budget Control Act of 2011 to hold the President accountable and ensure that he does not receive a blank check to continue his spending spree that put us in the situation we are in today. While the spending cuts are smaller that I would like, this legislation makes real progress toward restoring fiscal discipline to Washington and instilling confidence in America's job creators. Californians have been forced to tighten their belts for too long—now it is time that Washington did the same. With this new law, we will be able to hold Washington accountable for the money it spends by voting on a Balanced Budget Amendment and sending it to the states for ratification. Rest assured, I will continue to take your concerns into consideration when voting on legislation that so greatly affects all taxpayers.

I have heard all of concerns through the continuous debt negotiations and appreciate all of your input. I want to invite you to join me on a Telephone Town Hall on Wednesday, August 10th at 6:00 p.m. To be among the first called on Wednesday, please sign up on my website at www.denham.house.gov or call my office at 559.449.2490 or 209.579.5458 to be added to the list. I hope you can join the discussion."

Once again, thank you for contacting me. I encourage you to stay up to date with my activity in Washington and in the 19th District on my website, www.denham.house.gov, and on my social media sites: @RepJeffDenham on Twitter and Representative Jeff Denham on Facebook.

Sincerely,

JEFF DENHAM

United States Representative

I didn’t agree with West’s statatement that they got 75%.

I agree with you, they got nothing and less than nothing, they gave Obama what he really wanted, a huge increase in the debt ceiling all the way to 2013, so Obama won’t have to deal with it just before the election. And how could they agree that 50% of the cuts to come out of defense, instead of all the useless programs and departments.

They got suckered by the Dems, as usual, sad to say.

Oh gag. So sorry. At least no one yet has indicated they have Pelosi as their rep, or they’re too embarrassed too. Garamendi just looks sleazy.

The way I came down on this vote, I decided it was not worth voting for. I didn’t want the debt ceiling raised, but I would’ve tolerated it if and only if we got enough in return. What we got is no more than a joke, when you put it up against the actual issue that is at stake, and when you put it up against all the debating and waiting and angst we went through while the sausage got made.

A sick joke.

Well, they were first NOMINATED by some uninformed voters who just “want to get along,” Rodney King Republicans.

Great post Jim. Exactly the perspective that makes Mrs. RQSR, and myself devoted FReepers.

Great comments, Enterprise!

I was unable to attend the town hall meeting here in Modesto Thursday evening. The event scheduled for 2 hours lasted over three hours. The Modesto Bee gave it some coverage this morning but it was pretty much a puff piece (why am I not surprised).

I remember back when we were involved in the Condit demonstrations, I talked with Denham at MJC one night. It was a “meet the candidates” program. The focus at that time was indeed Condit and Denham’s presence was because he was running for state senate I believe. I wasn’t that impressed with him then and I’m surely not now. Hope we are able to get him primaried OUT.

Meanwhile, I received another weekly email from him this morning.

When John Boehner says, “Get your a$$ in line” Renee’s only thought is “where do I que up?”

Boehner is tough on Republicans, but seeks compromise and appeasement with Dems.

Just once, I’d like to see Republican exhibit a little political courage, STAND UP, and say we’ve had enough and are not taking it anymore.

Thanks Dave.

We had another morons in the news moment of humor on Friday. The SEIU was at First/Herndon picketing Denham's office because he hasn't done enough to produce jobs. I thought, "What a pathetic bunch of intellectual pygmies."

If they are going to picket Denham over jobs, then they need to send hundreds of that number to picket Costa, Cardoza, Pelosi, Boxer, and Feinstein. And then, tens of millions of them need to hit the streets and picket the number one intellectual pygmy in America - BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!

Needless to add, they are hoping that with redistricting that then can unseat Denham, and this is just their opening salvo for next year. They KNOW that he shot himself in the foot big time politically with his vote, and you what? I think he did too!

With S&P promptly dropping the credit rating of the U.S. from AAA to AA, every damned pinhead that voted for the bill should be busy wiping the eggs off their faces.

I ask vainly of the Republicans in the House, if YOU won't remove Boehner then who WILL? If you won't remove him NOW, then WHEN? And if YOU won't keep political faith with your supporters, them God willing, in 2012 the voters will remove you ALL and put in people who WILL!

Hear, hear!! I don’t think these business as usual RINOs quite comprehend the anger or the urgency here!! We sent them to DC to fight for American Liberty and fiscal responsibility, not to squander our national treasury or our national honor!!

Nor to assist the national socialist fascists with their anti-free economy, anti-capitalist, anti-America, anti-Liberty agenda!!

The SEIU is a greedy, jack-booted socialist/fascist goon squad!!

Vote the RINO bastards OUT!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

Scalise is from Louisiana not Indiana. He is my representative. The rats really hate him for his, so far, uncompromising ‘extremism’.

Jim,
I see I am not alone. My representative, Kenny Marchant, also
sold out and voted for the mess. I am trying to find someone
to run against him in the primary. So far no luck. Any
ideas on where or how to find a new representative?
