After Bin Laden was killed, Robert Gates was insistent that nothing be revealed about the unit that accomplished the deed. But one man could not keep his mouth shut: Joe Biden, who credited the SEALs in a speech:

Further irresponsible leaks from the Obama administration revealed the unit involved, causing the unit members to fear for their safety and that of their families:
The Department of Defense is looking into ways to “pump up the security” for the team of Navy SEALs who helped kill Osama bin Laden after the commandos expressed concern for their safety and the safety of their families, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday.Gates made the comment in response to a question at a town hall meeting at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. A Marine asked what measures were being taken to protect “the identities and the lives” of the SEALs involved in the takedown of bin Laden in Pakistan a week ago, as well as other troops deployed in the region, from the threat of retaliation.
“We are very concerned about the security of our families – of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details … I would tell you that when I met with the team last Thursday, they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families,” Gates told the audience.
“Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.”
Gates specifically talked about the fear of potential retaliation:
Gates acknowledged the threat of retaliation against Team 6 and troops deployed in the region.“There is an awareness that the threat of retaliation is increased because of the attacks – because of the action against bin Laden,” he said.
Today, that retaliation may have come to pass, as a Taliban RPG killed at least 20 members of Team 6, in “the single deadliest incident for U.S. soldiers by far” in the Afghanistan war. The members apparently were not part of the group involved in the raid, we are told (why are we told this? Won’t it keep the jihadis hunting?), and there is no way to know whether this was an orchestrated ambush targeting Team 6. Joe Biden is a total idiot. It was kinda funny to laugh at his dumb gaffs like an old crazy uncle or something, but if his big mouth is responsible for the lost lives of our troops, then he should be held accountable for this. This is reprehensible. When will we learn, you can not put liberals in charge of our military. They can’t be trusted.
It was collusion. At the highest levels.

A CIC should never reveal classified information, especially in order to crow about an operation (which he presumably had nothing to do with.)
My guess is that President Dubya would have downplayed it wisely, and credited the military, but not revealed anything about our assets.

Yep. Many of us could see months ago that something like this was likely to happen- the administration cared more about trying to boost Obama’s poll numbers by making a big public show about the kill, instead of doing the sound thing and taking credit, but leaving out the details that nobody in the public needed to know.
If there is any one a-hole on this planet who has built up a lifetime of Karma, in the form of punches in the mouth, it’s “The Delaware Doofus’’ himself. Biden makes me sick. The guys an ass and he knows it- he revels in it.

The media sure seems to have a pecking order for whose lives are newsworthy, evidently you have to be a SEAL to matter, we have seen this before, when the GIs dying with the SEALS were always described in an afterthought if at all.

Hell, no. Under our present leadership and ROE, we will go to each and every village, apologize, and promise we won’t do it again. Whatever ‘it’ is.
Every freakin general/admiral who signed off on the Afghan ROE should resign in disgrace, together with our Boy President and his clown VP. None of them should receive a dime of federal benefits or pension. This kind of ‘leadership’ is too incompetent for the world’s formerly sole superpower.
Where would Obama possibly find a better life insurance policy than Joe Biden as VP?
I believe Gates will leave us "facts" and "truths"...but this is not the time because we have troops to protect and the enemy needs no "The USA is Wrong" news.
Gates was p***** about us going into Libya, too.

In that crazy theater of war? No way, it was just another military tragic event and to imply that what Biden said may have led to it is ridiculous.
