More votes for Perry than Palin in Iowa Straw Poll
Posted on 08/13/2011 5:35:56 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear
Rick Perry who just announced his candidacy received more votes than Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.
How much longer can Palin just drive around the country not doing much of anything and still expect to run for POTUS?
A potential candidate without the organization to even manage 100 write in votes looks really really bad.

ROFLMAO...... Putting so much credence in a poll that places Paul in second place... is just about as nuts as Paul.
Palin will announce in September and then go on to rock your world.

IowaRepublican - Craig Robinson
Singleton and his team of Palin organizers have personally met with most of the county GOP chairs across the state. That is something that none of the current presidential campaigns can say that they have done. Instead of selling Iowa activists on Palin, they instead make sure that people understand that there is a possibility that Palin will run.
Even though Sarah Palin doesnt play by the same rules that seem to govern the rest of the field of Republican candidates, she has developed an extensive ground game in Iowa, even if its not being officially coordinated by her or her advisors. In many ways, I think that Palin is probably more organized in Iowa in terms of grassroots communication than most of the current field.
Shane Vander Hart - Caffenated Thoughts Iowa
I can attest to what Craig [Robinson] is saying, there is rarely an event I go to where Peter Singleton and Organize 4 Palin is not. I cant say the same about the other campaigns. So if she gets in shell be able to hit the ground running...... She has the ability more than any other candidate, I believe, to enter this race late and still be competitive in Iowa.
Scott Conroy RealClear Politics - 'Devoted Volunteers Build Foundation for Palin in Iowa'
..Singleton and McCormick may be the chief out-of-state amateur operatives in Iowa on Palin's behalf, but they are not alone. Their efforts are bolstered by a substantial network of state residents whom they have signed up to help in their endeavors. No one would reveal just how many Organize4Palin volunteers are on the ground in Iowa, but several sources told RCP that the group has had a presence in the vast majority of the state's 99 counties.

The write-in space was a blank line. You could vote for any person you wanted, even Obama.

Sadly it does seem that she isn’t running. When the final ethics lawsuit was dismissed in July we all hoped that would trigger an announcement but no.
Due to her negatives caused by the rotten lying media Sarah would have a mountain to climb to beat the communist. She might figure she’ll do the cause more good by supporting a candidate who hasn’t yet been destroyed - not that they won’t try.
The thing is ....I’ve personally sent some of her writings to liberals without saying Sarah is the author and they don’t see anything wrong with her views. But you say her name and there is a knee jerk reaction even they don’t understand. It’s really repulsive what they’ve done.

Great post. Thanks.
In addition, Gov Palin has to play this right down the middle until until an announcement. That includes encouraging her supporters to write her in. She cannot do anything that indicates she is running.
As is stands I expect Rollins to file an FEC complaint against her once she does get in. If she had gotten anything out of this event it would have made his job a lot easier in that respect.

Wow, so all of that was a lie... or a pretty big bluff if Perry could organize more votes in a single day than Palin could in months.

“Hater” is the common noun describing one who hates. It’s been in use for over 700 years by English-speaking people. There is no political ideology associated with its use.

Last night on Hannity, Joe Trippi said had Governor Palin participated she would have won in a run away.

She had Randy Travis at her tent. All candidates with tents had food, entertainment, speakers, etc.

I agree Romney was a big loser. I’m just surprised that Palin didn’t even 35 write ins. That’s a tough one to wrap the mind around.

Palin was in the state yesterday and she had the same opportunity for write in votes as Perry so why did he get over 700 votes and Palin got 35?
That’s because Perry’s people bought 700 tickets and Palin’s people bought none. This event was a fundraiser for the Iowa Republican Party. Palin knows that giving them $150,000 to try to win a poll is a waste of money. Ron Paul’s people bought 5000 tickets or so and Bachmann’s bought 6000 ($180,000 wasted on an ego trip).

You don’t get it, do you granny?
To: Minus_The_Bear
I lived in Iowa from 1974 to 2002, except for my time in the armed forces. The Ames straw poll is a fundraiser for the state republican party and signifies almost nothing, except to the press. The only polls that matter are the primaries/caucuses and the election.

Perrys people bought tickets, Palins didnt. Obviously.
But, why didn't Palin's grassroots army buy any tickets? If it really exists, one would figure they would be out buying tickets since their candidate showed up prior to the event.

Yeah... let's all listen to Howard Dean's 2004 campaign manager for advice in the Republican primary.
And I'm stupid.
No wonder you work for the government.

ROFLMAO...... Putting so much credence in a poll that places Paul in second place... is just about as nuts as Paul. People keep posting that, but I can't help but wonder how different those same people would be posting had Palin won.

She cannot do anything that indicates she is running. Really? I read an excited Palin supporter claimed she herself said "When I announce..." not "If I announce..." Is she keeping secrets from herself? Color me confused.
