Three hours ago over 200 eager supporters where at the Marriot Hotel in Key Largo to great America's great conservative hope Marco Rubio. Entering the doorway first of the panoramic third floor of the Marriot overlooking Fla. Bay with a huge thunderstorm in process was our House of Rep. lady Ileana ros Lehtinen. She stood in the doorway and posed for photos. I got to greet her as she entered and soon sheer pandemoneum erupted as Sen. Marco Rubio entered the doorway. Before he could get into the room he met and greeted dozens of well wishers, posed for photos and generally exuded so much charisma it literally filled the Room. As he entered the room he was approached by well wishers, fans, constituents former politicians and present, and posed for photos with everyone. My turn came up and I told him that he has an army of Freepers on FreeRepublic just waiting to support him and that he is a rock star with endless support on the worldwide web. He thanked me but said he wasn't quite that great. I said he was.

Later as we ate dinner at the biggest fund raiser ever for the Fla. Keys REC-- Republican Executive Committee with over 220 in attendance Ileana ros Lehtinen our House Rep.introduced Marco who got his start as an unpaid volunteer in her office in the early 90's, had to be a moment for her as well. She received a standing O and as she brought Marco to the stage the room erupted in thunderous applause, with every one standing of course, for several minutes. He was more than surprised and after calming everyone down proceeded to give us 15 or 20 minutes of one of the greatest speeches I will ever hear in person from a future President of the United States. He told of the country that he considers to be the greatest in the world, the USA, but has overspent to the point where its unsustainable. He said that those of us who are already on SS should not have to endure any change but people of his age, early 40's and younger will see a different retirement system. His focus was on the greatness of the country but the need to cut way back on spending or pay a horrific price. It was classic Rubio and the audience was literally spellbound. I will never forget the evening and am glad to share it with other freepers.

Most there were of the opinion that he may not run this time as a VP but wait down the road for the potus. But you know how things go anything is possible.
What impressed me is the guy is real, down to earth he’s the real thing no addons or putons he is real.

He will be president one day - no doubt about it, but will not run for VP, nor should he.

THanks Pen! He apologized for not being able to spend a lot of time with us tonight said he had obligations in miami and said he had mentioned a lot of what he was saying tonight at the Reagan Library in Calif.
One of our guys thanked him for catching Mrs.Reagan and the room erupted again.
We also mentioned that he would be president and once again the room erupted.

That's about the way it was shaking out. But politics are strange and if the top of the ticket looks weak and rino like a Romney its gonna take a Palin or Rubio or Paul Ryan to get our excitement up, let's face it.
Some cool think stuff we do here was in his speech.
We can take credit for simplifying how much money is spent by govt every month.
Marco stated that we take in 180 billion a month spend 300 and have monthly deficits of 120. Pretty sure that comes from us. I know I have said it and am sure others her have as well.
Never think we don't have input all the way to the top cause we do.

How awesome for you to hear this man in person. I was lucky enough to have him attend our little Rep club (50 or so at the time) very early in his bid for the US senate. You would think that he would be unpolished at that early stage. But he really wasn’t because he speaks about things that are important to him and from his heart. Marco is a rare gem and I will treasure the photo I have of him with me and our little group forever.

Like The Messiah, he was not born of two U.S. Citizen parents, I thought. How will this get him legitimately to the VP slot, if the POTUS has to be a “natural born citizen”, doesn’t the first-in-line of succession ALSO have to meet the Presidential Qualifications?

Its just guessing now but doubtful he will run this time around. Zero pretty much ruined it for newcomers to the Senate, especially. He could windup as VP but its probably a long shot as well.
If we get in in 2012, and we will really have to screw up badly not to, he may run in 8 years.

He will be president one day - no doubt about it, but will not run for VP, nor should he.He's not going to get executive leadership in the senate. If he wants to be President, he needs to first serve as governor --or accept the VP nod he will surely be offered.
He's going to be Perry's pick and Marco Rubio be the next Vice President of the United States. In 8 years he'll still be under 50 and have the executive experience he needs to run for President.
