Bachmann prepping to swing at Perry (Mitt must be onboard)
Politico ^ | September 11, 2011 | By MAGGIE HABERMAN

Byron York telegraphs the lines of attack Michele Bachmann is planning on using at tomorrow night's Florida debate to chip away at the support Rick Perry has taken from her:

"Bernie Madoff deals with Ponzi schemes, not the grandparents of America," says a Bachmann adviser. "Clearly she feels differently about the value of Social Security than Gov. Perry does. She believes Social Security needs to be saved, that it's an important safety net for Americans who have paid into it all their lives."

York goes on the say Bachmann's camp was unhappy with how few questions she got at last week's Reagan Library debate, and quotes the Bachmann adviser saying she will make clear she disagrees with Perry on Social Security if asked:

"Certainly not," the adviser says. "She strongly disagrees with his position on that, and it's clearly not something that's going to sit well with the people of Florida and Iowa and South Carolina and many of the early states, where there is a large population of seniors who rely heavily on Social Security. For [Perry] to scare them is wrong."

Sept 7, 2011: 4 Minute YouTube VIDEO Clip: Perry Fires At Rove & Romney: Social Security Is A "Ponzi Scheme" And A "Monstrous Lie"

Perry Campaign: Remember When Romney Compared Social Security to a Criminal Enterprise? [quote from Romney's book] " What would happen to the bankers responsible for misusing the money? They would go to jail. But what has happened to the people responsible for the looming bankruptcy of Social Security? They keep returning to Congress every two years.” [end quote]

“Social Security is a broken ponzi scheme” straight talking worked last election.

The truth worked for SENATOR Marco Rubio! Not so good for Crist.

Senator Marco Rubio talked of Life and of the failing Social Security program and won in Flordia, "Heaven's waiting room."

In Wisconsin (union strong-hold) SENATOR Ron Johnson beat incumbent Russ Feingold by speaking out strongly about the ponzi scheme called social security.

Left: Russ Feingold; Right: Ron Johnson.

TWO improbable (we are told) places to win with a platform that exposes a broken and unsustainable social security program -- but IT HAPPENED!

I like Bachmann but frankly, her attacking Perry will not work.

Rubio and Johnson are very articulate. Perry came off like a “bull in the china shop” in the last debate.

Sometimes it isn’t what you say, but how you say it.

Bachmann cant be this stupid.
She knows damn well that the numbers dont add up for SS, and she knows damn well that Perry is not trying to make old folks eat catfood.

This will be her last stand.

I am much more concerned with Rick Perry, patron saint of open borders and illegal immigration, than anything he said about Social Security.

Gotta keep Social Security JUST as it is. You know ... a fund that has been raided. A perfectly broken program. If we don’t keep it like it is, how can we threaten not to send old people their checks when things get rough?

If she does attack Perry using the dishonest line (always used by Democrats) that social security is not a Ponzi Scheme, and that Perry wants to kill it, this dishonesty and cynicism would lose her a lot of conservative support. She might not be elected Representative again, let alone President.

Actually, Bachmann did pretty well on questions with 9 just behind Romney and Perry. Newt, Santorum, and Cain actually did worst with 6, 6, and 5 each.

You are uninformed about the situation on the border and you are uninformed on governing Texas.

Most certainly seniors and indeed all workers count on social security. However one does not need an MBA to see that the social security system is fundamentally broken. Those entering the work force today most likely see it as taxation, not as a pension scheme they can count on receiving. The arithmetic is just not set up for it to sustain in the long term.

I agree that it is a dangerous gamble.
She is fully aware that Rick Perry has no intention of gutting SS.
He intends to fix it.

How Perry said it.

Are we so "delicate" we can't listen to that and cheer?

I just think its kind of pathetic that they promote this Bachmann/Romney rumor while keeping quiet about the actual ties between the Perry and Romney team.

Perry’s communications director is married to Romney’s chief Texas fundariaser and then Perry turns around and picks a guy who endorsed Romney in 08 to be his economic advisor.

The RINOS are equally yoked and running together, mark my words.
