Lazy Saturday morning this week. Best things going is the we once again out numbered the moonbats, 7-5, and Lurker Bills music (BELOW). If you have been at Walter Reed the last 2 years or so, you would have heard his combo of patriotic songs, service melodies, Barry Sadlers Ballad of the Green Berets, big band music and what I call jungle music.
Of course I also like Robert Hortons Sink the Bismarck and original version of Battle of New Orleans. Check out the 1959 black n white video.
Jeez, just keep finding them. Heres Jimmy Deans Big Bad John
Lots of old ballads HERE
Dang this is one AAR that I enjoyed writing. I get to listen to the music while checking the links and writing.
7 Patriots in Olney this Saturday include Kim, Lurker Bill, Cindy_True_Supporter, Fraxinus, GunsAreOK, [Mrs] Trooprally and myself
BELOW LEFT: Cindy_True_Supporter and Fraxinus. BELOW RIGHT: And our favorite Lurker, Bill!!
BELOW LEFT: Fraxinus with GunsAreOK BELOW RIGHT: Kim, a Navy Vet, late-90s, and newbie of about 5 weeks with us.
BELOW LEFT: Me with my Marine jacket. It was cold out there today, a drop of about 15 degrees in one week. BELOW RIGHT: Me again. One of the benefits of writing the AARs, is that I can put in the pictures I want.
AND OF COURSE OUR SUPPORTERS
Some new money making have been installed on north bound Georgia Avenue right before you enter the main business district. Slow your speed after the light at King William Drive.
And a new one has been placed just south of Brookeville, between Brookeville and the Longwood Community Center.
Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney
NEW TIME - 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
But a lot of verbal engagement in Olney is always welcome.
DC Chapter Master Ping List
Johnny Horton, not Robert Horton.
I can (almost) hear the music again.
Nice sign Kim, LOL
Thanks for your devotion to all the men and women in harms way. I guess it was too cool for shorts but there seems to be an absence of soul warming stogies as well.
One small suggestion, there have been no photos of the heart warming, power walking, Starbucks loving sisters and we really need to see more of the sisters. I trust that you still see them on occasion?
If anyone finds Horton's version, please post. Thanks
Thank You from the Olney patriots.
Stogies are still around. [Mrs] T just didn’t get a picture. And yes Starbuck sisters are still walking. iMacMan is the one who usually takes their picture. Go figure why a guy takes their pic and not [Mrs] T. :-))
Ray Peterson sang the original “Tell Laura I Love Her” in 1960. Robert Horton starred in “Wagon Train” (Flint McCullogh)and was also a musical star on Broadway, but if he ever recorded “Laura”, I can find no record of it.
The original writer of Battle of New Orleans is not Johnny Horton. It is Jimmy Driftwood.
Thanks for the info. I will have to check with my brother. He has a album by I thought, Robert Horton, but it appears I am wrong on the name. IMHO, the version I know is way better than the original.
Thanks. But I still like Horton’s version better.
You have an email about Friday at your work addy.
