NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Toby Keith says gay marriage doesn't bother him and trying to stop it wastes time and money.
The country superstar tells "CMT Insider" airing Saturday on CMT that he doesn't see the reason behind getting into people's personal lives. He says refusing a marriage license to people because they are gay won't stop them from living together, so it accomplishes nothing.
Keith also weighed in on the military's now-repealed "don't ask, don't tell" policy that banned gays serving openly in uniform. He says that anyone with the training and passion should have the right to defend the country, adding: "Somebody's sexual preference is, like, who cares?"

I assumed Toby was a liberal when he included the “COEXIST” bumper sticker in one of his music videos, and after Willie Nelson told a booing audience (Willie was introducing Toby onto the stage) that he[Toby], “...is one of us”, as he hoped the audience would stop.
Incidentally, the “COEXIST” bumpers sticker is the most moronic vehicle accessory I have yet to read. After all, aren’t these drivers “coexisting” by simply being on the road with other travelers? “Coexisting” with who, or what?
And don’t forget self-described Blue Dog Democrat Tim McGraw. But he’s a crappy country singer, so maybe he doesn’t count.
And even yet, if this was all there was to it, it would be voluntary. We could be as free to greet the message with raspberries as with adoration.
However, “gay marriage” a la New York is a recognition compulsory upon everybody else. And the lapse of DADT is an open invitation to sexual harassment.

If you choose to support Toby because you enjoy his music, it’s your American freedom to do so. There still remains some level of liberty in this country, and I’m grateful for that.

Yep, watched his performance here at one of the FOB’s. He also lets military men and women eat and drink at his restaurant chain for free. Told us, after looking at his accounts, us “bastards” have been taking him up on it...lol. One of the good guys that support the military by being in and out of the war zones continuously since the beginning.

First of all, Toby Keith left the Democrat party after seeing Obama in action and is now a registered independent. I am a conservative. I believe the government should stay out of people’s bedrooms. It takes a certain arrogance to get on one’s high horse and play God, determining the right and wrong of a person’s sexual behavior. Do not break the law, do not engage any unwilling person, do not ask others to pay for your behavior, and keep what should be personal and private to yourself We have wasted too much time on ‘bedroom’ issues in this country while bankrupting the treasury. This is a sure-fire way for Republicans to lose any election. It shows them to be sanctimonious and pompous and they always fall on their face when the next Republican strays whether it is Newt Gingrich or Larry Craig. The Democrats make hay with each failing.
Welfare has done more to destroy the nuclear family than any gay rights issues. BTW, I am a straight married female.
I thank all members of our armed forces for their service and could care less who they are sleeping with. I also love Toby Keith’s voice.

Totally ignoring that the license legitimizes a perversion. While we can't stop them from living together (and nobody with a brain would do that, there is no valid reason to embrace the lifestyle while diluting the moral institution of marriage.
It would be fun if he incorporated that little speech into the opening part of his act.
