Poll: Romney Takes First, Perry and Cain Tie for Second
Wall Street Journal ^ | Oct. 4, 2011 | Danny Yadron

After weeks of uneven debate performances and criticism over his stance on illegal immigrants and vaccinations, former GOP presidential front-runner Rick Perry tied for second place with Herman Cain in a Washington Post/ABC News poll out Tuesday. Both took 16%, trailing former Mr. Romney who continues to have the backing of a quarter of GOP primary voters. The same survey last month showed Texas Gov. Perry leading former Massachusetts Gov. Romney 29% to 25%.

It’s the second national poll in a week showing Mr. Romney moving back into first as Mr. Perry’s new-candidate shine has begun to wear off. (The earlier poll by Fox News is here.) Meantime, a slew of polls in early voting states has shown the former governor leading the primary fray while also performing best against President Barack Obama in a hypothetical contest.

Perry's slide in the polls resulted in Romney being back in the lead. I didn't know there were so many Romney supporters on FR, but that must be it, why else would FReepers practically "dance on the street" being so happy about it.

There are some Freepers who are Mahdi Republicans who want GOPers to lose so that the “Hidden One” can reveal himself or herself after 0bama spends 8 years destroying the country.

Liberals will have to go down one at a time. It seems it’s starting with Perry.

Fox News Poll Puts Romney in the Lead

http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/politics/2011/September/Fox-News-Poll-Puts-Romney-in-the-Lead/

“A new Fox News poll puts former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as the new frontrunner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.”

The Cain Surge is Good News for Romney

http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2011/10/04/the_cain_surge_is_good_news_for_romney.html

” This is actually Romney’s ideal situation, with underfunded niche candidates fighting for the conservative vote, and his best-funded credible opponent cratering but still taking double digits. Moreover, Cain is clearly more inclined to send his supporters over to Romney than he is to send them over to any other candidate. How do we know? Cain endorsed Romney in 2008, for one (it was the thing to do in those anti-McCain months), and he’s been notably harsher on Perry than he’s been on Romney.”

Romney Takes First, Perry... for Second

With the playoffs now underway, its like Perry strikes out, and Romney takes first on the walk.

Quick, lets put together a poll that will lead the person answering the poll to chose Romney before Cain gets too much more traction...

Romney’s dream scenario — the conservatives are forming a circular firing squad, nobody is attacking or paying attention to Romney, who will have a cakewalk to the nomination.

So what your saying is if you are

Pro-Life

Pro-military

Pro-business

Pro-spending cuts

Pro-Gun and Pro-low taxes you are a liberal?

Man have we been infiltrated here on FR? Have we become some weird narrow group? Those were once Conservative positions and now they are liberal? Maybe those positions are not liberal but you must also be for a fence on the US southern border to also not be liberal.

Well that would exclude Palin and Cain because they are not for a fence and they are for a path to citizenship for illegals and against the deportation in any meaningful numbers.

Both the Dems/MSM and conservatives are doing everything they can to knock out Perry, the only electable conservative, so we will end up with Romney, hence Obama for another 4 years. The logic of this on the part of conservatives escapes me.

Perry was our only hope the stop Romney.

The good news is that Romney simply cannot crack the 25-30% range, no matter who his opponents are. There is a risk though that the conservatives will split their votes. However unlike 2008, a lot more states are proportional rather than "winner takes all". People always say there could be a "brokered convention", and it never happens, but this time it really could.

No, what a lot of conservatives are saying is that if you support the invasion of illegals across our southern borders, then you are not their man.

I tend to agree with them.
