The Myth of Voter Fraud [BARF Alert]
The New York Times ^ | October 9, 2011 | The New York Times

Posted on 10/10/2011 11:48:03 AM PDT by feralcat

It has been a record year for new legislation designed to make it harder for Democrats to vote — 19 laws and two executive actions in 14 states dominated by Republicans, according to a new study by the Brennan Center for Justice. As a result, more than five million eligible voters will have a harder time participating in the 2012 election.

Of course the Republicans passing these laws never acknowledge their real purpose, which is to turn away from the polls people who are more likely to vote Democratic, particularly the young, the poor, the elderly and minorities. They insist that laws requiring government identification cards to vote are only to protect the sanctity of the ballot from unscrupulous voters. Cutting back on early voting, which has been popular among working people who often cannot afford to take off from their jobs on Election Day, will save money, they claim.

"It has been a record year for new legislation designed to make it harder for Democrats to vote...."

HUH???

How does turning voting back to needing voter ID "make it harder for Democrats to vote?"

As Ricky Ricardo would say to Lucy, "splain that to me, Lucy?"

In a 7/4 parade, Kobach was walking with his family, and his kid was carrying a sign that said “My daddy will stop voter fraud”.

I cheered.

"Many [voters] are poor, or elderly, or black and Hispanic and could have a hard time navigating the bureaucracy to get a card."

Only a racist would believe that being black and Hispanic makes someone less capable of navigating Big Government's bureaucracy than whites, non-Hispanics, Asians, or any other race.

LOL- Yeah he could of stopped at poor or elderly. His statement suggests blacks with PHDs are unable to figure out how to obtain photo identification.

Obama and Harry Reid are both in office by voter fraud, and only by voter fraud.

What a crock!!!! Perfect example of how the NY Slimes use their brainwash technique. They don’t care about the dead votes or depriving the military or escorting mentally disabled to the polls and voting for them and on and on.

Actually, all hyperbole aside, that IS their mentality when it comes to voting, welfare, etc.

The sheeperals don’t care how many abuse the system (or even see it sometimes) as long as everyone who is possibly eligible gets to vote or get a government check. To possibly exclude someone on the basis of making sure everyone follows the rules seems “mean” to them.

I’m not making an argument for their mentality, but simply explaining their mentality.

I was in Disney and Universal this summer. To reenter you need to be electronically fingerprinted.
I guess they were intentionally keeping out the poor, elderly, black and Hispanics.

“turn away from the polls people who are more likely to vote Democratic, particularly the young, the poor, the elderly and minorities.”

God decided He was finally fed up with the human race and decided to end it for good. He called up a reporter at the New York Times to tell him the news: The world would end the day after tomorrow. The reporter tried to talk God out of it, but God was firm and wouldn’t be swayed. The reporter then asked if he had an exclusive. God said that He was going to call other newspapers. Headlines the next day:

The Wall Street Journal: “God says world to end tomorrow; market to close early”

USA Today: “IT’S OVER!”

The new York times: “God says world to end tomorrow; women and minorities hardest hit.”

Cutting back on early voting, which has been popular among working people who often cannot afford to take off from their jobs on Election Day

The polls are open 13 hours on election day. What "working people" can't find a few minutes in that time?

I'm not sure how much "cutting back on early voting" folks are talking about but in CA you have an entire month to vote. Any voter can do so by mail or a voter can drop into their local registrar's office to cast a ballot.
