I hate to plug a product on this forum but they need to check out Envirotabs at
http://www.greenfootglobal.com/Jhalderman The test results are coming just great in pollution reduction.
Let the Flames begin. Just check it out first.
Thanks

It’s so predictable what will happen. They made the new law as gentle as possible. Once it’s approved, enforcement will go up, and the fine will be very easily increased from the $20 level. That’s how taxes creep on us.

Do you really think people are going to shut off their engines when it is -10F with a howling wind? Seriously. You need the heat from the engine to stay alive and keep the windshield from being covered in ice from simple breathing inside the vehicle. Left wing idiots. SLC has the largest non-Mormon population in the state. The usual shiftless, leftist trash is attracted to big city life in the capital.

as usual this is aimed at big trucks the polis dont care if i have to stay warm (or cool) while i sleep in my cab I understand from one of my sons, a long hauler, NO IDLING UNLESS IT"S BELOW 20 degrees - or above 90.
Now, as you say, you guys LIVE in those trucks. That would be like saying you can't turn on your furnace unless it's below 20 or y our air unless above 90.
In addition - when it's 90 OUTSIDE your truck, your cab and sleeper berth is up to 20 degrees hotter.
For example, when he crisscrossed Texas this summer - which was almost always well above 100 degrees, his cab reached 130 degrees more than once.
This can make you dangerously sleepy while behind the wheel = and can dehydrate and kill you in the berth.
That's not to mention, you cannot sleep that kind of heat. That impacts your 'manage your fatigue' directive and makes your driving more dangerous.
But government egg heads - whatever they come up with, there's one common denominator: One size fits all.
Don't tell them, but most truckers know how to get around this, for the most part. They know how to jury-rig it, by-passing the system.
My son, however, (who just picked up a brand new truck with the idle freeze built in, told them he wasn't going to do that. He said: "YOu either get an authorized waiver today from the manufacturer that allows me to have it by-passed or you get the truck back tomorrow."
He's been on the road enough years and with a top tier reputation that they acquiesced. He doesn't suffer fools gladly.

I doubt they care. It's about more revenue.

With the forever road construction going on along the I-15 corridor, the traffic jams are as bad as Los Angeles.

Still doesn't stop the ‘no idle’ laws.
(How much do you get for each click on the site?)
Sounds like another one the many ‘green outfits’ that got/still getting Obumbles stimulus money.

I really dislike the drive up I-15 from San Diego to my home in Pocatello. It is especially bad north of Nephi where much of that freeway construction is getting done. Much less in southern Utah. A fast run for the 920 mile path is about 14 hours, 30 minues for me. Road construction is the main impediment to maintaining a good average speed home.

It will be especially fun catching the City PoliJerk’s Limo idling for more than two minutes.

Yeah. And I want to see how many of these council-nannys drive gas-guzzling SUV’s too.

Two nights ago, as I was coming home from work here in Contra Costa County, CA, I was “passed” by two CHP Crown Vics that were running way in excess of 100 mph (it was probably more like a buck twenty) w/o benefit of lights or sirens. Where were they going? They were headed down the freeway about five miles to “relieve” their fellow officers who are enjoying a new perc that California has inherited from Taxachusetts, namely sitting on night highway construction sites with their lights and engines running all night long. I guess midnight was the shift change and they were late to provide relief to their “brother officers” who had the swing shift as it was about 11:50. We pay these people to sit on their asses and do nothing!

Conservatives need to do a lot more of that sort of thing.

Sooo, how many kids are they going to cook this summer? 88 degrees outside can mean temps well over 100 inside.
