Uh oh: Witness found to Cain incidents ?
Hot Air ^ | November 01, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

So far, neither of the two alleged complainants from Herman Cain’s tenure at the National Restaurant Association have come forward publicly, although it appears at least one would like NRA to release her from her confidentiality agreement to do so. However, a pollster who worked for NRA at the time told KTOK in Oklahoma that he witnessed both incidents — and that if the women talk, Cain’s candidacy would be over:

Interviewed today on KTOK’s Mullins in the Morning, [Chris] Wilson, of Wilson-Perkins-Allen Opinion Research headquartered in Washington, D.C. explained he was a witness to the incident. “I was the pollster at the National Restaurant Association when Herman Cain was head of it and I was around a couple of times when this happened and anyone who was involved with the NRA at the time, knew that this was gonna come up.”

Wilson described the woman as a low level staffer who was maybe two years out of college. “This occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City (Virginia) and everybody was aware of it,” he continued. “It was only a matter of time because so many people were aware of what took place, so many people were aware of her situation, the fact she left—everybody knew with the campaign that this would eventually come up.”

Herman is in an impossible situation—there’s no way to prove a negative.

It pains me to say this but I just don’t have a good feeling about where all this is going. I would love to be wrong.

If you're that dim and easily-manipulated, you deserve four more years of Ubama.

“It pains me to say this but I just don’t have a good feeling about where all this is going.”

Romney did the EXACT same thing to Fred Thompson in 2008 with his hatchet website and spreading the lie that Thompson was pro-abortion.

It killed Thompson just as his funding was getting going and he collapsed immediately.

Romney is repeating his old trick.

Appears to be working on you.

Any attack on Cain should be met with a loud reply of: "That's racist!"

The Left does it when anything is said about Obama. So should we.

And why would you believe anything these women say?
Did you believe the stripper in the Duke case?
Why would these women come forth 12 years later if not for someone bankrolling their lies?

Rush said today that one of the women’s lawyers no longer even has the agreement on file. Nor did the lawyer remember who the complaint was against (Cain). Nor did he remember any meetings with the restaurant association.

There was just a decision by the Obama administration that they do not have to release documents based on Freedom of Information inquiries. I think Cain should do the same thing.

Herman is in an impossible situation—there’s no way to prove a negative.

In this case, there might be.

The latest claim is that it occurred in a public restaurant. Wilson claims to have witnessed it.

All it will require is for other people at the same meeting to rebut his statement. The way that everyone is being so vague about what happened, I suspect that it will turn out it's something like an off-color joke.

If it is something that has been blown out of proportion, Cain is not only in the clear -- he will get some benefit out of this. Aside from a few shrill women's organization, everyone is sick of bogus sexual harassment claims.

To be clear, I believe that sexual harassment is using a position of power to either force someone into a relationship they don't want, or to penalize them if they don't comply. But, I'm tired of people getting settlements because they claim they were "uncomfortable". I find myself feeling "uncomfortable" on the job on nearly a weekly basis, but I don't use it as an excuse to get a big bonus.

If there is any truth to any of this, the act will have to be quite horrible for Cain to be disqualified. We had a president who, in the Oval Office no less, pulled his pants down and inserted his erect penis into the mouth of a 21-year-old girl. This country gave him a pass. The bar has been set pretty high.

I suspect the initial report was a trap. The women couldn’t say anything because they were bound by the non-disclosure agreement. The trap was to see if Cain could be drawn into violating the non-disclosure agreement himself, which would then free the women to do so.

I suspect a more seasoned campaign would have seen the initial story for what it was, and directed Cain to make a bland “personnel matters at the NRA are confidential” type statement. The story might have smoldered, but with no one going on the record, might have died.

National politics is a blood sport, as Vince Foster famously observed in his “suicide” note.

This doesn’t mean Cain is screwed; if the women do go one the record, and they’re seen as Anita Hill type political harpies, this could actually help him. I like Cain, but his “outsider” status could be very much a two-edged sword.

My post is pure speculation and opinion. YMMV.

Below is the thread I was referencing; the Rove connection is noted in the beginning - the Perry connection is shown later in the thread:

This would make a lot more sense if it said Crystal City Restaurant.

So what did this “witness” see?

I’m not saying I’d believe them - but at least we knew the Duke case involved a stripper. I’m thinking once these women show their faces they’ll be shown to be the losers they must be. Right now they benefit from anonymonity - the left gets to imply the worst.

I cannot imagine that Cain did anything significant. There is such a thing as sexual harassment - involving a demand for sex for favorable job treatment - NOT saying someone looks nice or they have nice perfume. As I said before - this is disgusting. Lawyers and feminists have turned many of our men into sniveling shadows. And I’m a woman who doesn’t like this one bit.
