Cain

[snip] I can’t understand why our side is giving the Politico/Cain story any sunlight.

I’m not a Cain guy. There is a lot to like about him, and I could easily see myself voting for him against President Obama — which is the same thing I say about several of the GOP candidates, none of whom has won me over yet. But this sorry Politico episode seems to me to have little to do with Cain and everything to do with how content we are to live in the Left’s world.

This controversy is the perfect storm of (a) media hypocrisy: given the bar set by Clinton/Edwards/Ted Kennedy/et al., the worst possible case of what Cain is accused of — if you draw every conceivable negative inference against him — doesn’t come close to being a story, yet the lefty media energetically dig into Cain after having buried the exponentially worse Democrat scandals; (b) the special bull’s-eye fitted on black conservatives: their example of self-reliance and independent thinking makes them such a threat to the “social justice” narrative that, when it comes to destroying them, anything goes; (c) sexual harassment: a social-engineering caprice the arbitrary standards of which can turn routine — not admirable, often unsavory, but entirely unremarkable — human behavior into legal ruin; and (d) the litigious nanny state: with human life hyper-regulated and legal fees hyper-expensive, ordinary human behavior becomes grist for extortionate lawsuits that parties settle on the cheap because the cost of fighting is prohibitive — and later, these parties end up sounding like jackasses if asked about the suits, at least in part because, if you say something strong in your defense, you risk violating the standard reciprocal confidentiality provision and thus reopening the whole expensive, embarrassing business.

It really makes you wonder. By all accounts he is an extremely decent productive human being. He is transmogrified into a grasping sex fiend. Verifiable, documented grasping sex fiends are transmogrified into senior statesmen.

Our “reality” is obviously being manipulated. And if you dare to admit this is happening you are a black helicopter conspiracy theorist.

The leftists are the right hand of El Diablo. What they are doing to Herman Cain borders on the criminal of personal harrassment.
Herman Cain will prevail and his enemies will be put to shame.

If the worst accusation is 100% true:

Cain: Wow, you are cute! Wanna come back to my room?
Woman: NO
Cain: OK

I could not agree with you more.

I, for one, absolutely refuse to be lead around like cattle any ****ing longer.

I am not even watching media any longer, and Sean Hannity is about to get the X too. Tired of hearing about it, tired of hearing morons talk about it.

It doesn’t matter at all.

Where are those Media Matters voices that are always saying Politico is middle of the road?

Couldn’t have said it better myself, in a million years. The media has the right chasing it’s tails on every accusation and protecting the left on any hardproof of same.
The right needs to go into every interview with comparisons of the media’s disingenuous accusations until the msm won’t invite them anymore. Maybe then the populace will realize their treason.

All the concern-trolls came out of the woodwork.

"I like Cain, but I disapprove of his behavior," as if the fact that he has been accused of something pretty much makes it irrelevant whether he did or not.

And the accusation is that he made a couple of neurotic women "uncomfortable."

He made them "uncomfortable?"

WTF? And there are idiots who take this seriously, because it comes from state-controlled media?

how content we are to live in the Left’s world.

Whatchoo say. The Left creates the reality that suits them on the fly. That's why the have to own the media: because "three newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonettes."

But, maybe if we dig around, we can find two thousand of them and solve this freaking problem for a while.

The problem is that if this is way the Hermster rolls then there are going to be a bunch of nice ladies who said yes.

Cain is going to have to deal with this weakness or whatever he wants to call it. Avoiding it is just asking for further eruptions later on and it will sink him. I hope he can sort this out with his wife and continue with his campaign. We can’t let the dims and RINO’s pick our candidates.

“the lefty media energetically dig into Cain after having buried the exponentially worse Democrat scandals”

A bunch of contemptible jackals is what they are. Oops, now I need to go and apologize to contemptible jackals everywhere, having insulted them so unfairly by comparing them to the leftist media.

I must reply to your post because you used the word transmogrified. I see it all over the Cain thing.

I think more see this than you think. Take heart.

That said...Call me Doris Day...but I think a lot of normal, everyday voters...the ones that didn't think too much about specifics and reality...Have had reality to deal with in the last 3 years.

This crap smear of Cain will play out. Yes...by all accounts (except the nameless harassed women), Cain is decent. Smart. Kind. Funny. Dealt with massive obstacles...yet came out with a positive attitude.

This—THIS—the MSM is hot upon?

Salacious stuff. If that is what they think very important they would have gone after Mr. Obama’s love interests at Man's Country, Frist, Kal Penn, R. Love....etc., etc.

Oh...that's different.

I still have hope for Cain. I see he is in for the ride of his life. He looks to be a decent man. I'm behind him until there is proof that he is not. I am disgusted how they (whoever “they”) are have gone at him.

People are watching now. I always think it a positive when Conservative ideas find their ways to those just starting to think about these big ideas.

I like Herman Cain because he is not a Politician.

He doesn't have the years of learning the political acumen that a Mitt, Newt or Perry may possess.

If my reputation were being ruined by verbal character assassination and my family, especially my grandchildren, having to witness this circus I'd be fighting mad.

Mr. Cain is a black American who was born and raised in the South. He made it in America because of his intelligence, hard work and perseverance.

Take a look at the facts - these are white, liberal journalists taking pot shots at a black, conservative businessman, striving to make our Country a better place for all of us.

Where is the NAACP, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson when you have “whitey”, (including Charles Krauthammer, Bill Kriston and Brit Hume) trying to take Herman Cain back to the Plantation? MIA of course!

Hannity disappointed me today. He was playing right into this Theater of the Absurd by claiming “we don’t know what happened” and similar non-relevant garbage.

We DO know what happened.

Complaints were made. They were investigated. They were found unsubstantiated. No action was taken against Mr. Cain. The accusers were terminated from their employment, with the usual severance pay and a confidentiality agreement.

END OF DISCUSSION.

It’s like this:

Fifteen years ago you were cited for DUI.

The case was investigated and the judge found there was no evidence that you had been DUI. The citation was dismissed before the case even went to trial.

Moreover, the cop who made the citation against you was terminated, given a severance pay, and he entered into a confidentiality agreement.

Today, fifteen years later, you are running for office. Someone leaks to the press that you were once CITED for DUI. You confirm that you were CITED for DUI. You AND THE MEDIA (in the Cain case, Politico) also confirm that:

1. The citation was dimissed as unsubstantiated.

2. The accuser was terminated.

3. The accuser entered into a confidentiality agreement. Now the accuser, the cop, wants to be released from his confidentiality agreement so he can “tell his side of the story” — the same facts (unless he lies) that he told the judge, that the judge found insufficient, and upon which the case was dismissed and you were exonerated.

That means NOTHING in terms of the validity and precedent of the previous findings by the judge upon a contemporaneous investigation into the facts and the accuser’s account.

NOTHING real or reliable could come out of the cop being allowed to say, literally, whatever he wants at this time — no matter how many people he wants to drag into the matter, no matter how impossible it is to collaborate or refute ANYTHING he says.

Why do some conservatives fall for this crap? It’s embarrassing.

Again, this is exactly why there are statutes of limitations in legal cases. The law says that after a certain amount of time has passed, the testimony of witnesses is no longer reliable.

Shouldn’t we be smart enough — not to mention politically savvy enough — to understand how this same rationale applies here?

Again, if you want to ding Cain because someone made a complaint against him, that’s your call. But please don’t clamor for the debacle of the Jerry Springer-ization of our nomination process. The Left is doing enough to try to destroy conservatives without conservatives going “celebrity crime” crazy over a complaint that was investigated and dismissed more than a decade ago

Thank you.

Ok he is not handling this well. But what he is not handling is being grabbed by the throat by a mad dog and shaken like a doll.

Should we stand back and critique his lack of ability to fend off mad dogs?

Or should we stand up and say back off you miserable mad dog.
