You’re right, he COULD have handled it better, and I do think somewhere along the line his staff is not up to par. On the other hand, I don’t really know how you extricate yourself from this political stinkieness. It appears to me that ANYTHING he did would have had repercussions. Some may have been less damaging than others (I think the drip drip drip is worse, but I’m guessing, I’m not a pro).
In the end the only way to really know is after the fact. But a novice is bound to make mistakes in this sort of political minefield. We either want slickly packaged well oiled machines, or we don’t. I don’t, and I”m willing to suffer thru the mistakes. And they will come when they have the force of virtually the entire mainstream media and the democratic nastiness machine against them.
That’s all I’m saying.

Thank you very much for your post.

I’m still firmly on the Cain Train, but I also believe it’s important to have the correct facts in hand.

Can’t wait for that debate tomorrow.

I agree I don’t like Cain right now, but it is not because of his policies. Honestly I’m just starting to pay attention to any of them.

One thing I’m not starting with this election is that if Cain or any candidate is not elected then the world is coming to an end. It is not. I think that is why a lot of people are willing to over look what appears to be a big problem the guy has. He is not the savior.

No... let me interpret my English statement for you:

"Cain needs to force the NRA to release ALL the investigation papers and put this story to bed or he should resign from the race... nothing else will stop the attacks...”

The left and romney and perry will continue to have their acolytes in the press push this story until it causes so much disdain for Cain that he cannot possibly overcome their slanderous lies... one must only look to Bush to see how doing NOTHING is a LOSING proposition.

“if he is innocent of these charges... he will more than likely sail to the nomination...”

Like I stated earlier... I have no proof of anything... YOU have no proof of anything... all I have is a belief and a faith that Cain is an honest man and what he says is the true. In today;s America that will do nothing to kill off these sleazy political attacks.

“if he is guilty... he has destroyed his own reputation...”

Since neither of us were there and since neither of us hold any evidence one way or the other... the possibility is that he could be guilty of something... I do not believe that he is guilty of any of this... but what matters is that Cain destroys these attacks and with them his attackers”

“I just want the truth to become public knowledge... and the truth is the truth... NO MORE clintonian bullshit in our America!”

No more allowing the press to cover up for leftists like clinton and no more rovian plans to ignore the scandal... regardless of it false premise... regardless of Cain's innocence... which I “believe to be the case”. He is trying to run for the office of President... and if he wins... unlike obama... he will be the president of ALL Americans. Some of those Americans will not vote for him because they are just now starting to pay attention and those independents do not have a wonderful site like FR on which to find the truth... they would be conservatives if they were here.

No, you let emotion run away and you struck out at someone allied with your cause. It happens... I have done it myself... but I admitted it when I made an error call... can you? Bottom line... you just do not like the fact that I am asking Cain to do what he told Sean Hannity yesterday that he wanted to have happen. Read the transcript... Cain needs to turn this crap back on the source... and the truth is the way to do that. I believe the truth is that Cain is innocent... why are you scared of the truth? The truth is the truth. I was also speaking of the press when I used the phrase clintonian... double standards... promoting the lie over the truth... Cain has not done that... at least I do not believe that he has. Burying ones head in the sand and refusing to acknowledge that the left is in the process of a devastating attack on Cain is simply not logical. Fight back with the e truth! Cain wants to... why don't you?

How many others you know that have been accused of this by 2 or 3 people ? Where there is smoke, there is generally fire.

You make some good points. I guess my big gripe is the extremely lame attempt to drag the Perry campaign into the whole controversy, as if it were germane to anything, which it’s not, even if it was the “whistle blower”, which it now appears not to have been.

But it’s irrelevant. The Obama Thugs and their Media Thugs would have uncovered all this in any event... it really is back there, as a set of bogus allegations.

I just think it was extremely unpresidential for Cain to try to somehow pin this on Perry.

But you’re right. I’ll take him as he is, warts and all.

It’s worries that I feel and worries that I’m expressing, that’s all.

Accused of what exactly? I haven't heard from any accusers, have you? Why are they coming out now and for what reason?

Have you even thought of these things or are you just tearing down Cain hoping it will somehow help your 8 point candidate that you drool over on the other threads?

For several reasons, it is entirely possible that the settlements were not primary spots in his long-term memory:

1. The agreement and settlement was between the accuser and the NRA. If properly executed, Cain’s name would not be in the settlement documents. In his mind, he was not involved.

2. 12 years ago, lawyers for the NRA informed Cain that there were accusations against him that appeared frivolous and that they would be settling with the complainant outside of legal channels. As CEO and a man trained in business management as well as “compartmental logic” (BS in Mathematics), he mentally checked that box as ‘closed’ and filed it in his “archive”.

I don’t believe that the customer is always right, but you should treat them as if they are almost every time. If you are smart you will. Call it what you will but they recieved money.

Err, Cain said yesterday he'd like the NRA to release the records.

You are getting really pathetic.

Ever wonder why the EEOC wasn't brought into this? No reports, no claims no nada.

I am supporting Cain and all I want is to see these sleazy attacks that are part of the politics of personal destruction... rocked back on its heels... I am sick of this style of sleaze. I just want the truth because I believe that Cain is innocent... if he is not... I will deal with that as a Conervative should.

Did this girl work for Cain? If so he should not have been asking her to come to his house or anything like that.

We don't know that he did. We have several unsavory political operatives saying similar things. I haven't heard about asking her to his house. I heard one accusation that he invited someone into a hotel room, but the accuser is extremely suspect. You may be mixing up some of the defamatory and unsupported (except by professional liars with HEAVY agendas) statements.

The guy is not presidential material. The gop voters are wasting good time with a guy that has too much baggage. People need to accept this. You have every right to believe that if you choose to. A very large percentage of us disagree with you. That is our right.

He has been charged several times with acting inappropriately toward women. Charged yes, proven no. The accuser wants to refute what he has said without being identified and therefore without being questioned. As far as I'm concerned anyone who wants to rag on someone while remaining anonymous is not to be trusted or believed. YMMV.

Also, she (if indeed this is not another creation of Chris Wilson) doesn't want any details mentioned. Why would that be? Sounds like, "I want my version of this exactly as I say and I don't want to be questioned about it or have anyone know the WHOLE story (details, details)."

She, (if it is she) is saying "People need to accept my story because I say it." Come to think about it, you said the same thing about your opinion of Cain. People need to accept this. NO, WE DON'T.

What is he supposed to say. He doesn’t want them released ?

I like some of the things I’ve heard Cain say. I don’t want a groper in chief. I haven’t made up my mind on my candidate. I hope I get the chance to support a good conservative.

I can understand the woman not wanting the details to be released. They would possible embarrass her. Even if she was not in the wrong, women often don’t like to discuss things like that. They say that can be a problem with rape victims in court. I’m not saying he raped her so don’t jump on that.
