Magic Johnson beating HIV 20 years later
Houston Chronicle ^ | November 7, 2011 | Greg Beacham

If Magic Johnson had known just how well he could live with HIV, he wouldn't have retired from the Lakers on Nov. 7, 1991.

Johnson would never change what he did for the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic when he publicly revealed his diagnosis to a stunned world. His courage that day, along with two subsequent decades of vibrant living, forever altered attitudes about the virus and its effects.

Magic is simply glad the world knows such happy endings are possible with access to treatment and vigilance.

Doing his best to make sure countless others have the opportunity to live with HIV?

Makes you wonder what he’s doing that the other people aren’t. Why is he so healthy still?

Q: How did Magic Johnson catch aids?
A: Too much Kareem in his coffee.

Yeah, I know it’s dated. But it still cracks me up.

I've never been able to figure that out. One would think that his "formula" for beating this disease would be common knowledge by now given his poster child position as a long term "Aids Survivor".

If anyone knows what he did to maintain his health they should speak up.

The best explanation is that did nothing except avoid the poisons that the AIDS industry wanted to pour down his throat.

The funniest related joke was by Norm MacDonald on Saturday Night Live's fake news:

Magic Johnson just came out with a book called "How Not To Get Aids".

The first chapter: Don't Have Sex With Me.

Who knows if he was or not. No money to look into other causes of the syndrome, and an endless pile for anti-virals.

Did you hear David Copperfield has AIDS?

...He's been doing Magic for years.

A Duesberg disciple, Christie Maggorie, would beg to differ.

Odd how the poster child for AIDS is lionized, even while his lies about how he became infected (there has never been a documented female to healthy male via hetero-sex) are supporting the disinformation that avoid the truth about how AIDS is invariably sexually transmitted (receptive anal sex).

"The only problem is, I would be happier if the numbers in the black and brown communities would go down...."

Really? How about being happy that the numbers just go down, period? Jeez, why does it always, all the time, every time, freaking come down to skin color?

“While Johnson mostly remembers a feeling of confidence derived from the unflinching support of his wife, Cookie, on the day of his announcement”

....makes me wonder how he got infected...

Has medical science ever explained how he survived so long? 20 years ago HIV was a death sentence.
