That is a good one. I love that cartoon. I’ve seen it before but it deserves a second look!

Wifey,

You are the best advocate that perry could ever have hoped for on FR, but perry needs to put down the shovel, ask for a ladder and climb out of the hole.

He is probably a very good governor for Texas, and since it's his third term, the people of Texas must agree with that.

Under the pressure of these game show debates, he cracks, and it's not just last night, it is every single time.

I think he loses his train of thought because he doesn't have core beliefs in what he is saying, he is trying to repeat some lines that sounded good in a practice debate, and the heat and lights and stress make him forget his lines that sounded so good in practice.

It's just like his first major gaffe, "heartless" he said it because he believes it, and when he found out how conservatives felt, he was out on a limb, and the stumbles and mumbles began.

The msm is doing their best to wear Herman Cain out, but perry is doing it to himself.

I was {among other things} a VP of sales and on many occasions had to speak {from a script} in front of a very large {but friendly} audience and it was always high pressure.

Public speaking under the best conditions is not that easy, but in an adversarial surrounding, with the candidacy for President of the USA on the line, must be unbelievable.

The only thing is, dirtboy, is that I honestly have seen worse trashing of Perry threads by anti-Perry people than vice versa.

I really have. There are a few posters who I’d rather not name (you are NOT one of them) because then I’d have to ping them and I’d have a big f*ing fight on my hands which I don’t want because I really don’t want to get stuck in some corner defending Perry, but there are a few posters who are absolutely obnoxious in their bombardment of Perry threads.

They may have eased up lately, as Perry sinks lower in the polls. But they really sickened me. They really did.

And though I saw some partisan sniping by Perry people on Cain threads, nothing I saw sunk to the level of the people I’m thinking of, who I won’t name.

It’s just my opinion, I know. I’m just throwing it out there.

I gave many lectures to large audiences at universities and I know the feeling. They were always friendly audiences, but that feeling in your stomach in the 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 5 minutes leading up to the start of the lecture.... wow. I remember that.

Yeah, there has been some of that.

I will say this - much of the flaming over Perry is over differences of opinion on policy - whether or not the Gardasil issue is important, whether the border fence matters, or in-state-tuition for illegals - some folks took that too far, but it was still over policy.

Whereas with the allegations of sexual harassment against Cain, those were clearly a time-worn attack method of the left dating back to Clarence Thomas, and no FReeper, whatever their motivations, should have been joining in to use that method of attack to help drag Cain down. Conservatives need to unite against liberal attacks against one of our own, no matter who we might support. And that is what really had ME irate over the last few days. Fortunately, as more details came out, the position appears to have become completely untenable to those trying to score points with it, so the debate has shifted to how Cain and his staff handled it - a fair point of debate, but unfortunately those trying to score points off of it fail to acknowledge the extreme difficulty of fighing off this kind of 'when did you stop beating your wife' kind of attack.

"He reminds me of a dozen Washington Redskin quarterbacks who have come to pass and aren’t ever remembered by anyone."

Actually he reminds me of Theismann -- Canton-bound until weak shins caught up with him.

You are absolutely right about that. I agree with you 100% about that.

Any FReeper who joined in on those trumped-up DNC lying-scumbag-whore charges against Cain seriously stepped over the line.

It's worth the price of admission just to watch Newt eviscerate Maria Bartiromo!

Cheers!

I like Rick but America doesn't need another President that has to read prepared speeches off a couple of idiot boards.

I resent that. You're implying he can actually read.

Cheers!

I was tempted to call out and have a bunch of pizza delivered to the Cain accusers' press conference yesterday.

Cheers!

To paraphrase an old, old, Doonesbury strip:

Debate Moderator: Question for you, Former Speaker Gingrich. What's your biology term paper on?

Newt: Juxtabronchial organ secretions in the higher mollusks.

Debate Moderator: And you, Gov. Perry?

Perry: Our Friend the Beaver.

Cheers!

How does this compare with Obama saying there are 57 states?

Because hussein simply confused it with his 57 Islamic states in the world, which is correct.

A fat old white man who has been around for decades and is carrying tons of baggage vs. a younger , dynamic black man named Barack Obama .

Happened last time, and the country hasn't seemed to have gotten any smarter since.

You don’t have to vote for Romney if the RINO-led GOP tries to shove him down our throats.
