Facebook is investigating reports of a massive wave of pornographic and violent images being posted to its website.
The content -- in the form of links, videos, and images -- began to appear Monday and includes doctored photographs of celebrities such as Justin Bieber in compromising situations, acts of violence and self-mutilation and even bestiality.
"We have recently experienced an increase in reports and we are investigating and addressing the issue," Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes told FoxNews.com. "We are always working to improve our systems to isolate and remove material that violates our terms. Protecting the people who use Facebook from spam and malicious content is a top priority for us."
The flood of explicit material appears to be linked to some sort of spam virus that propagates when unknowing users click on infected content, according to tech site ZDNet.
Facebook users took to Twitter to vent their rage, some even threatening to quit the social network once and for all.

You have to look for it. I know for a FACT that none of my friends have any porn or violent images on their page. This is another anti-Facebook witch hunt. Look at what they did. They went to Twitter to express anger.......I am suspect that they would go to Facebook’s competitor. If I was Facebook, I would tell those creeps to leave and don’t come back.

Must be a classic idiot move where someone clicks the “what to know who’s viewing your profile?” or “you won’t believe what she did!” and goes to a redirect porno site or another “Facebook is gonna charge” internet hoax...

The images keep showing up in my daughter’s newsfeed. She hasn’t clicked on anything malicious or gone looking for any of them, it’s happening because people she is “friends” with click on the virus trigger. It’s supposedly an attack by “Anonymous” to take down Facebook.
My wife’s account had 2 images posted to it. She almost went off major league on the “posters” but that would be like going off on your friends because their email account was hacked.
So.

WTF good is facebook? My family hounded me for years to get facebook and I finally broke down and signed up. It seems silly. I just can’t fathom how it’s a billion dollar site.
Sorry. I accidently got an automated uploader running on my computer and it dumped about 1% of my most lightweight and benign files onto Facebook.
