Syracuse police say they are investigating an allegation that Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine molested a team ball boy for more than a dozen years beginning in the mid-1980s.
Police stressed to Outside The Lines they are in the early stages of the investigation.
The alleged victim, Bobby Davis, now 39, told Outside the Lines that Fine molested him beginning in 1983 shortly before Davis entered the seventh grade. Davis, the team's ball boy for six years beginning in 1984, said the abuse occurred at Fine's home, at the Syracuse basketball facilities, and on road trips, including the 1987 Final Four.
In addition, a second man -- a relative of Davis -- told OTL that he was also molested by Fine around the same time as the first boy.
Fine is now in his 35th season as an assistant to head coach Jim Boeheim.

Aw,geeze,not Syracuse! I love S.U..
Yes! It’s not just Penn State. The rot is deep at every Marxist-demrat controlled university.
Fire Boeheim now. He had to know. He RUNS that town. He’s obviously a pedophile enabler.
I also think they should cancel the remainder of their season and be banned from any participation in postseason play.
Why haven’t we heard much about this? Where is it that all the espn sportscasters go to edumicate themselves again?
Actually....its everywhere.
The cat is out of the bag!
the good news is that this will help a lot of young boys ( and girls) that are or have been abused to stop the abuse and get help and put away these abusers.
“Boeheim saw me with Bernie all the time in the hotel rooms, on road trips,” Davis said. “He’d come in, and see me laying in the bed, kind of glance at me like, ‘What are you doing here?’ But he wouldn’t say that. He’d just scowl. And I would look at him like, I’d be nervous. I felt embarrassed ‘cause I felt stupid that I’m there. I’m not supposed to be here. I know it, and Boeheim’s not stupid.”
Jim Boeheim needs to be fired tomorrow.
No question about it - Boeheim should resign or be fired.
Ped State...Boston Ped Sox...Syracuse...who ISN’T molesting little boys? Wonder how many times ‘homosexual’ won’t be mentioned in connection with this story?
It's high time we slaughter all the SACRED COWS including those of mine at my alma mater! This Asst. Coach homoerotic position has got be exposed and rooted out!
This is first hand witness of a boy (a ball boy) in the bed of an assistant coach on the road in a hotel room.
Joe never witnessed anything like this. Not according to his testimony. Seems boeheim is much more culpable, even given the two different circumstances.
How long has espn been sitting on this? One of their statements said something like “lets let the legal process play itself out before judging anyone involved”...
Really? Isn’t that special...
As we rush to remove names from trophies and push to try and somehow undo 61 years of greatness, I get the feeling that treatment of those peripherally involved in these two issues will get different treatments. Just like the polls in 68, 69, 73, 94, etc.
That's not how things need to work in a case like this. The most effective outcome is for the media to work themselves into a frenzy until Syracuse fires and suspends a bunch of people without fully understanding the facts.
Only then can the healing process begin.
If the kid had his own room, and Boeheim saw him in this guy’s bed, you are right. Boeheim can’t overlook that. And the guy is still there. Sick.
One of the troubling points I raised was the fact that if Sandusky was not offered a job after leaving Penn State, it had to be because the coaches at the other schools knew about him.
Bitter much? Were you in the riots? Joe was way wrong and the board did the right thing.
Actually I’m thinking more about Mike McQueary, given that some of the more recent stories suggest that the full story may not be known. But in general, there was disgraceful behavior on the part of all the PSU suspects, the PSU board of trustees and the media.
“Only then can the healing process begin.”
Your sarcasm lacked the neccesary lable...Ped State is it’s own case...don’t try to confuse the issue.
I’m as disgusted as anyone over what went on in State College. But I’m also disgusted over the media’s handling of it as well as the guilt by association that’s been heaped on people who had nothing to do with the situation.
