The GOP should have repealed the pertinent sections of the Voting Rights Act when they controlled Congress. It's just more reverse racism with majority minority gerrymandering, creating congressional districts with the most contorted borders.

Perry should never have let this happen. He is destroying Texas and some people want to give him the keys to the White House. What is wrong with people. Between this and the fact that he has caused Texas to gain debt while he has been in office is terrible.

There are rumors that they are going to pull this in Wisconsin for the 2012 election as well. They are already challenging the redistricting for the recalls, and are filing a suit in Federal court to maintain the boundaries the way they are now.

The State Attorney General is already appealing this stupidity. Off it goes to the Supreme Court...

Under the crap the DemocRATS and the court came up with in Arizona, it looks like the ‘RATS will be gaining ALL of Arizona’s house seats. I don’t know what the Republicans were thinking when they allowed Barry’s kids to do the redistricting.

It used to be gerrymandered so much that the GOP could win a large majority of the vote and the Democrats won a majority of seats.

What the Court has done is protect the minority Party. In the State Senate, the only real change is protection for Democrat Wendy Davis. In the Congressional map, they've protected "Layoff" Lloyd Doggett.

I've commented and posted a link to an interactive map on my blog, WingRight.

Click on the map to go to the interactive Congressional map:

For those who want more information, here is the page with all the new Court-ordered maps.

So what is the d/r breakdown under the ‘bad’ map as opposed to the map the GOP put together?

Perry should never have let this happen.

While I'm loathe to defend Perry, he didn't "let this happen".

The state legislature passed a redistricting plan. A federal judge has suspended that plan and imposed an alternate plan for the 2012 election while the court case is decided.

Perry is not responsible for this reapportionment injustice; LBJ is.

Nothing is Perry's fault...He's a powerless innocent bystander.

No kidding. Thank God we dodge this idiot. Can you imagine him being President. Absolutely zero difference between him and Obama. Perry would be blaming everyone else for his stupidity just like Obama does.

Then there was the year that they gerrymandered a Dallas congresswoman’s district to capture the majority black areas in Dallas, Tarrant AND Collin counties. (It ran right up Central Expressway to Plano and picked up the Douglas area there).
