I was on the Cain train for awhile, but now I am undecided, leaning Perry after the Arpaio endorsement.

Wow, you really are the media's lawful prey.

In my opinion Newt cannot win the general election.

I say this even though I like him.

Controlled from top to bottom. You’re right - makes sense.

I like Herman, but if it’s Newt, I can support him. Never Mitt.

“Newt is a better option than Romney.”

Wow, talk about damning with faint praise, that’s a masterpiece.

The CORPS(sic) of John Dillinger is a million times better than Obama.

I disagree.

After Fannie and Freddie, after undermining Paul Ryan, after the whoring suck up with Nancy Pelosi, I trust him less than anyone.

That would be nice.

Gee it hasn’t happened in a long time. I think the convo went into without the nominee being a certainty was 1968 rats. And even then HHH was pretty much a lock.

It was more fun back when the rats required a 2/3 majority.

with filing deadlines later for late primaries in March-April ... must be a few folks wondering why they did not get in now that MITT is in MELTdown.

If Dole dropped out in ‘96, Kemp would have gotten into the late primaries. The example to study in the DEM ‘76 race when Church and Jerry Brown got in late and chased Jimmy Carter around the late primaries, beating up on him. It was not clear that Carter was going to make it.

“That would be nice.”

One can dream. OTOH, the “party elite” would probably draft Milt.

I’ll take Newt over Milt anyday of the week and thrice on Sunday.

any ideas on candidates to jump in?

March 20, Illinois jumps out at me .... could possibly be Newt vs. Perry at that point, with MB and ronpaul tagging along.

Could be Perry’s strategy at this point is just to survive until MITT is out and Perry chases Newt around.

As you know by now, I have a man-crush on “His Rickness”.

That being said, any one of us has a better chance of getting elected POTUS than Rick Perry does.

I remember watching the 1980 Republican National Convention, so I know that, when the convention started, we didn’t know that Reagan would be the nominee. When the convention started, he had more delegates than any other candidate, but he didn’t have a majority of them.

I hope that when the 2012 Republican National Convention starts, we won’t know who the nominee will be. If that happens, the convention will be more suspenseful and exciting, causing more people to watch and hear the good republican ideas. That happened in 1980, and Reagan won about 40 states.

“I guess what I’m trying to say - is for people to give Perry another look.”

I don’t think it’s gonna happen. And I’m glad of it. I’ve been opposed to Gov. Perry for awhile. Not because of his lack of debating skills. That alone I can overlook. The problem Gov. Perry has is of being a unrelenting corporate toady AND he is unable to favorably present himself and his ideas. From gardasil to the trans-Texas corridor, Gov. Perry has been the poster boy for crony capitalism. And he’s not going to be able to shake that image given his inability to present himself or his ideas in a flattering manner.

FWIW I don’t think Newt is hugely better with respect to his corporate affiliations, but he is definitely able to present himself and his ideas in a favorable manner. You can have the best ideas in the world, but if you can’t present them in a manner where people are willing to adopt them, then it’s all for nought.

although this weekend seems derailing for the Cain Train, i will continue to support him in hopes that the suspension of his campaign means that he will be back.

his anti-establishment nature is best suited with my beliefs, and though he may have dallied, i feel that he will and is still the best chance to defeat obama and right this political shift away from the core beliefs of american capitalism.

flame away.

i am still on the Cain Train.
