Exclusive: Cain on Campaign Future, Part 2
GOP candidate speaks out on ‘Your World’
Obama can’t have a real black man running against him; especially one who wants to help all America; not hurt it.
Cain’s “reassessment” is based on four factors:
1. The impact on my family. My number one priority.
2. The feedback that I have gotten from my supporters, which has been overwhelmingly positive for me to stay.
3. Some people will convict me in the court of public opinion, which will cause them not to contribute. The first day the story broke, contributions dropped way off. They are moving back up - because I believe the American People are starting to see through this character assassination on me.
4. (I didn’t catch a fourth item.)
Cain’s Attorney has requested discovery relating to the texts and phone calls. (”Discovery” is my word, not Cain’s word — they have requested info relating to the phone calls and texts.)
On the other hand, if he is ready to get into that hot kitchen, he needs to confer with Lin Wood and his favorite PR adviser...and then return fire at this woman.
He needs to lay out the details from his point of view and demand the same from her. His lawyer needs to consider suing her for whatever she has been paid and then going after those who have paid her. Many of us would contribute to a fund to pay this woman for the truth (so there could be a tempting settlement for her to turn on her Democratic benefactor).
Cain needs to fight for the country and ignore the personal pain. If he is guilty (even partially)...tell the frikken truth and let the chips fall.
Cain said if continued allegations like these have a heavy toll on his wife and family, then he will..... and he stopped short of saying he would quit. He said he would reassess. Cavuto pressed the point further, and Cain said YES, if it affects his wife and family too severely, he would quit.
(Unfortunately, Cain just gave his enemies the recipe on how to get him to quit: Keep upsetting his wife.)
He said his wife asked him if the allegations were true. He said no, they are not true.

Cain actually did very well in this interview. He provided more detail than he had previously and made a pretty strong case for himself.
You know what? I agree with you.
I watched both parts of this interview in their entirety. I’m sure I could be convinced that a serial killer is innocent if they have the charm of James Dean, but my BS meter does not go off with Cain. Yes, Sociopaths believe their lies. But Cain is believable to me. As unscientific as that is.
However, if the affair did happen, I don’t even care. Like you said, if he admits it, we can move on. In fact, if he had said something like this at the very beginning of his campaign (like the beginning of every rally for the first 6 weeks):
“I had an affair. I’m not proud of it, but it happened. My wife and I have worked it out, she forgave me, and we are happily married and committed to this campaign. I wanted you, the people, to hear it from me first, rather than have it drug up later by the media. Now, let’s talk about how we are going to save our Country!”
Then the media would have nothing to report on. It would be old news. And there’s nothing the media hates more than old news. (Or maybe a Black Conservative.) LOL
In the second half of the interview, Cavuto brings up Gingrich’s affairs. So he did address that point. Cain responded well.

But I don’t think Cain said a fourth item. Or maybe I misunderstood one of the points, and it was actually two points. You can listen to the first part of the first interview and see if you catch a fourth item.

But on a serious note: I’m glad to hear you say that. I thought he did well in this interview too. But I’ve always liked Cain, whereas I know you don’t. So for you to say he did well, I am impressed, and I thank you for saying something positive about him. (Dare I ask, did it hurt? ;-)

LOL. I call em' as I see him. I thought Cain finally put forth a solid, detailed explanation of what happened and acquitted himself well. In my opinion that is all it takes to debunk this stuff if there is nothing to these allegations. He's just going to have to answer the specifics - what is the friendship to him, why was he helping her, etc. Cain did that in this interview, and if he deals with the media going forward like he just did on Cavuto's show then I think he can put it behind him.
I'd even go further, if Cain would just keep doing interviews like this one and answer all the questions he might generate a sympathy backlash in his favor - and if there was actually a way he could prove this allegation was a smear, a lot of people will take a second look because disproving one accusation will have the effect of wiping out all of them. If that were to happen, Cain would become almost immune to any future attacks because people would start assuming every negative thing the media put forward was just another bogus smear.
