As to your admonishment directed toward me, Rick Perry would not tap Newt for the VP slot.
How can you say that? How can you possibly know that?

The fact remains, you have morphed into one of THEM.

Let me define THEM.

Those who willingly "eat our own" and provide red meat for the DNC opposition.

Perry's not doing that. You are doing that.

Just as THEY unfairly did that to Perry. And I called THEM out on it, when THEY did it... just as I'm calling you out now.

Who the hell are you to conduct a trial on me?

“Come clean?!!!!” [ When did I stop beating my husband?!]

I am posting FACTS about Newt because he is NOT what we want.

That simple.

You are quite the nasty little FReeper.

I see no fault in your Pro-Perry articles, they are great, but, other than Romney, the other candidates should not be alienated. If RP was to win the nomination, we are gonna need all the support we can get from the others and it does not help if you keep painting them all in a negative way. Please stop it, you are doing more harm than good.
Absolutely right. Absolutely 100% right.

What if Obama decides he just doesn’t want to debate? Then what?
Proves you don't listen to what Newt is saying these days. He's got an EXCELLENT solution to that which he's already made public and even making it public the Obambi handlers will be able to do nothing to defuse it.

Newt is truly brilliant. And he's on our side. And that's what we need. Brilliance on our side.

Whatever else we may say about Gingrich -- he gets the problems we face economically, from islam etc. He has ideas about what to do about this. He is the best candidate right now. I hope Cain comes in his administration -- ideally as VP, that would be a combination that would bring this country back from the brink. Perry may be a good man, a good governor, but he cannot inspire the nation and win this presidency. Obamba part II will be the last nail in the coffin for the US
Right you are.

I agree with every word that Andy Ferguson said about Newt.

I’m totally a Perry supporter, but I am very thankful that we have Newt as a possibility if Perry can’t make it. I absolutely haven’t ruled Perry out as he has the money and the organization and the will to trudge on.

If the electorate somehow gets disillusioned with Newt, as they have with every other front runner, Perry will still be standing.

That being said, I like Newt. He’s saying all the right things now. He is glib, fast-talking and won’t be bullied by either the press or Obama.

My main problem is a worry about how steadfast he is. He’s got that ADD thing going and he could very well fly off in a tangent and not keep his priorities straight.

However, he will be so much better than what we have now and better than the other contenders (except for Rick Perry)

But actions apparently don’t speak louder than good talkers to some.

And THAT is true for the majority of the electorate -- whether for a party or the vast majority that are undecided.

I'm not going to debate Perry's good deeds, but he is unable to talk about them and to debate him.

he will not inspire the undecided to vote for him, he may not even inspire many of the less anxious GOPers to get out and vote. Don't get me wrong -- if Perry is the GOP candidate i WILL vote for him, he's better than Romney or Obama

But he would not win against President Teleprompter

What if Obama decides he just doesn’t want to debate? Then what? -- then he'll be derided as a coward and lose votes

Gingrich can also demolish Obama on his own, in the press -- something that Perry can't do

Also, Perry's various ideas are not presented well by him, either on the net or in person.

Take the scenario you put of Gingrich/Cain as candidate and Obambi refusing to debate -- the majority will consider him a coward and Gingrich/Cain's speeches will point out just where he stands and people will contrast Obambi's lack of inspiration with these two folks who have done something. If Perry is there, he may have done a lot, but he wont' be able to inspire the undecided

You’re stuck with the silver tongued Newt who is a died in the wool, reach across the aisle, big government, loves the U.N. moderate. -- now that is just not true. Newt may not be an extreme guy like Paul, but he is just as "moderate" taken eveything as Perry. "reach across the aisle" -- not a bad idea if we want to get something passed instead of reaching an impasse. He's not a "loves the UN" guy.

I admire your defense of and promotion of Perry and yes, his performance in Texas needs no defence, but I submit that he is not a viable candidate

There’s alot of off the wall comments from Freepers lately, CW and unfortunately, some of them are trolls.
Free Republic used to be a bastion of Conservatism and a safe place to vent and bond with others who think alike.

Lately it seems to be a venu for exchanging harsh words at the least and attacking each other at worst..frustration over the weak candidate choices and disgust with Hussein, being the driving forces.

These are hard times all around. Hopefully, once a candidate is chosen, we can all laser focus on the goal of ousting the Usurper in Chief.

Frustration over the candidate choices and abhorrence of Hussein are the driving forces.

CW is a virtual friend of mine. She has been faithful in posting Rick Perry articles and I appreciate that. It’s a lot of trouble to post articles, I seldom bother.

I don’t think she’s trashing Newt here. I read the article and didn’t find it so much an attack piece as a re-statng of all the things we both loved and hated about Newt.

In fact, it scared me a little because it was so true and I want to like Newt because he’s a strong possibility.

I love to say that Newt was a dirty word on Free Republic as close as early this year. I mean you could be banned under the ‘no profanity’ rule for even using the Newt word.

He’s made a meteorical rise, seems to have finally gotten his private life straightened out, and may have learned something during all the trials he’s been through.

I don’t think expressing valid doubts about Newt is a sin and I don’t think C.W. is a paid operative.

Your righteous wrath and clever rhetoric is side-stepping the question.

I’m not asking “when did you stop beating your husband?”

I’m asking: “why did you go from a pro-Perry poster to an anti-front-runner poster, something you never were before?”

What Newt really said because I listened to him say it is that you identify the 6-8 more conservative Democrat senators and you work on them to go along with the legislation you want to pass. Then you just bypass the progressives and get your bill through.

Full disclosure: I have been planning to vote for Newt in the NH primary for six weeks.

I watched the whole hour with Hannity. The main thing taht impressed me is that he called Obama out as the socialist radical that he is, and for the radicals that he has filled the executive branch with.

ONLY SARAH HAS CALLED OBAMA OUT AS DIRECTLY AS NEWT.

I do not believe the election will be easily won. I think the candidate and the party need strong, clear, and consistent messaging about WHO Obama is and WHAT he is trying to do.

Gingrich did good with this on Hannity, and if he can keep it up he’s the one, IMO.

You have pretty much consumed every thread with your hatred for GIngrich. You repeat just about everything liberals are presenting against him. Assuming you are a Republican, do you understand the damage you are doing? I pray that Perry, Santorum, Bachmann, Gingrich, Romney, Hunt, Cain all continue to do well in striking a contrast between themselves and Obama. He is your enemy, not Gingrich so please think of one positive thing about him, give us the attributes of Perry and move on. We have had nothing but negatives for three years can we start celebrating the end of the Obama era.
