Holder Jr. will deliver a speech Tuesday expressing concerns about the voter-identification laws, along with a Texas redistricting plan before the Supreme Court that fails to take into account the state’s burgeoning Hispanic population, he said in an interview Monday.

Holder will speak at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Libary and Museum in Austin, Tex., which honors the president who shepherded the 1965 Voting Rights Act into law. …

When it comes to voting fraud, some conservatives have long argued that it is a serious problem, although others say the number of such cases is relatively low. Studies of the issue have reached different conclusions on the extent of the problem.

“You constantly hear about voter fraud . . . but you don’t see huge amounts of vote fraud out there,’’ Holder said.

Voter ID is something that needs to happen. A propostion that affects everyone, more-or-less equally, should have more-or-less equality of arguments for and against it. Dems being uniformly against it, says to me that they're covering for something.

However, after the laws are passed, I'll bet that very little fraud is found. It's akin to sticking a state trooper every 1000 ft beside a stretch of interstate, then saying "There is no speeding on the interstate". People behave better when they know they're being watched.

I'll also bet that Democrat turnout will be in the crapper because of voter id, Dems will scream that racist Voter ID is the cause of it, and since no fraud was found the laws should be repealed.

As far as PR is concerned, there's no way for Repubs to win this one, but it's still a step that needs to be taken, IMHO.

This is a great article on the real issue about Voter Fraud, and it describes an ID requirement is only able to peck at the margins of the problem. The most serious problem is the fraudulent voter registrations turned in months before election day. It’s great reading, and explains that far more than ID’s at polls, the Justice department is in mortal terror of states purging their voter rolls of the dead, and those who have moved out of state.

$13 STATE ID

When my state of South Carolina was working to get a Voter ID law passed, the RATS complained that low income voters would be disenfranchised as they had no money to pay for the ID. So the legislature (Republican majority) changed the law to make the taxpayers pay for the IDs so the IDs could be "free." Believe it or not, then the RATS complained that the low income voters were still disenfranchised as they had no transportation to the DMV to get their "free" ID. Unbelievable!

Bull Puckey, the voter ID law was first implemented here in Michigan in 2008 and Bammy won. I will say that it has probably become a lot more efficient since then.

Its also a good issue for noting the importance of electing a good secretary of state.

The election of Ruth Johnson in Michigan is probably the single most valuable office we took last year. She’s a fraud fighter with a bloodlust due to the fact that she herself was targeted with fraud. To make things even sweeter, we defeated a prize Soros secretary of state project nominee to do it.
