I’m low speed - high drag.
Merry Christmas Alfa!
I get to sleep in til 5:30, then I go on holiday break Tues.
I put 50 rounds through a 38spl version a while back. It’s so light, the recoil stings your hand after a while.
I hear good things about that Ruger DA trigger.
If you don’t mind my asking, what were the time/shot placement requirements for the range portion of the renewal?
We don’t have range tests for CC where I live, and I’ve always wondered what a test would consist of: how many shots, how quickly, inside how big a diameter?
Thanks.
They sting like hell with 158 grain semi wad cutters!
G’night sir. I’m on vacation this week, so I’ll be going in bright and early tomorrow.
I get to hand out Christmas bonuses for the first time in 3 years!
Yeah, at roughly 14 ounces, there’s gonna be a little kick involved. At least the quality grips they use helps a little.
I commented on that 22 LCR thread. Other than for cheap practise, I can't see any use for a 22lr snubbie. As for recoil for the wife, you might move at least up to a 22wmr snubbie. Lots of them out there and they pack a much bigger punch. You could get a 327magnum snubbie and run non-magnum 32's thru it. You could also get a 38pcl, which is pretty low recoil if not one of the +p's.
I hear that the polymer part of the frame absorbs a lot of recoil.
My S&W 442 airweight .38 snubbie stings like the dickens.
YEP
Laurenmarlowe took one shot, shook her head and handed the pistol back. Lol
I can’t blame her.
The state doesn't specify an exact scenario SOP, therefore it's pretty much up to the trainers. We have to renew every two years. This is my 5th time and the range sessions seem to differ often.
This year we were asked to simulate sweeping the scene, firing 2 shots, then resweeping the scene, repeating this process... about 6-8 times per target distance, taping up holes between target sequences. 3,5 & 7 yards. The outer lines you had to stay inside were (guessing here) about 10-12 inches wide by about 13-15 inches high.
Two years ago, the same instructer had us fire about 25 rounds, all at 5 yards. 10 years ago, during my 8hr initial class, we started at 15 yards (45'), go gigure.
Is there a hog season, bag limit, minimum firepower or any other restrictions?
Does it taste gamey?
My uncle used to be able to shoot them on Catalina Island CA with a .45 ACP...
usually its just 50 rounds at 3,5, and 7 yards
Commands vary as to how many to load, and you just shoot at the target.
I forget the scoring, its 1,2 and 3 points, but if you hit the body with them you will pass.
Its difficult to fail.
Excellent news! I love my LCR and have been hoping they’d do one in .22.
This will be my next gun!
Some good thoughts there. Something for me to chew on. Thanks.
