Welfare recipients outnumber taxpayers
Editorial Charleston Daily Mail ^ | 12/23/11 | Editor

Paul LePage, the Republican governor of Maine, mentioned an uncomfortable truth in a radio address this month: Maine has more welfare recipients than income tax payers.

Democrats challenged the accuracy of this assertion.

The Bangor Daily News fact-checked LePage and discovered that 445,074 Mainers paid state income tax, while 453,194 received some sort of state aid.

Thank you for the referral.

My people came here in 1729.

For all of that I was raised to what I believe to be a higher standard. And I won’t hijack this thread other than to say my heart and soul, and EVERYTHING I do is by the Grace Of God.

I’m tired of it Mamelukesabre.

I’m not meek. I’m not stupid. I’m not lazy.

I was given a full ride academic scholarship in 1979. I turned it down. I told the woman in that office that day to give it to someone who deserved to go to school but didn’t have the money. I had the money to go to school because I worked for it. I didn’t need the extra.

She got tears in hers eyes and told me no one had ever done anything like that before. She said they just take the money and run.

And I did the first 2 years of engineering skool.

I am a professional cabinetmaker.

Ya need any cabinets?

I’ll do them for free if I thought it would feed me.

The people I work for now are the same as so many people who say “it’s my money”. Vultures. And claim they are Christian.

my two lazy inlaws both got on SS disability..the man probably 20 yrs ago, his wife about 5 yrs ago....they own their own house, a rental with an extra lot, plus 10 acres ub tge country....and both have sports cars, plus each have an suv...and the topper is that some indian friend brings them tons of "extra" food bank food...fresh veggies, can goods, flour, etc, etc...

consequently, I won't donate to the food bank anymore....probably a bunch of them live high on the hog with others peoples donations...

I'm sorry about your predicament...its true....white Americans especially those in the middle class or working class category, are getting screwed all ways...increasing taxes plus obeying all the rules like carrying car insurance and health insurance....

There will come a day when the parasites try to steal everything from the producers by force (looting and outright theft). Then these human roaches will come up against 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, 5.56mm, 7.62mm, and 12 ga. “Raid” bug killer. Time for a general house cleaning that includes the enablers of the parasites.

The entire nation is that way. If we count all the people that receive checks totalling more than they pay in taxes it is at least 51% on welfare.

Please do not feel sorry for my predicament. I made a choice. I drew a line in the sand. And I WILL stand. The government screwed me over in 1997. They had no case. What won their day was the jury who decided THAT day, a day like ALL the rest, was that their FEAR of the government was more important than anything else.

Le Page is awesome - he needs to throw his hat in a bigger ring.

I do not donate to food banks either, nor do I give the streetcorner bums anything. One of the ‘unintended consequences’ of socialism I guess.

I knew a guy that was employed by the city, inspecting the section 8 housing.
He said that after T-giving and other holidays, he’d find the trashcans FILLED with donated food.
“Why?” I asked.

He said because it wasn’t cooked for them.

If you really want to know how these grifters game the system...
STEAL from hard-working ppl like you n me...

go hang out at a WIC office. Count the smartphones, $neakers, Escalades, jewelry.

I’m DONE with it.

There may come a time - sooner than you imagine - when those of us who work to pay unearned, endless benefits to others will choose to no longer do so. For the record, that is. But just between ourselves... we will make the appropriate arrangements: value in exchange for value, voluntarily and free from coercion. We may well even assume functions formerly reserved for governments - because such governments no longer operate as our servants, but as our masters.

And we may also come to provide for our own defense - individuals, families, neighbors, and communities - because our elected officials no longer obey or represent us, but have chosen instead to become accessories to plunder. The only alternative is a return to constitutional representative government - which both major parties currently appear to shun.

Liberty is rare in human history because it requires both continuous effort and vigilance. Dependency is so much easier - until one runs out of providers.

It is 3 down.

I just hit 50.

“gig to gig”

Too many people in this field working out of their garages trying to do what I can do better, and this must be true, cause they are coming to the people I work for, who employ only ONE professional cabinetmaker.

My major fail is I don’t have a garage...

But I do have a friend who told me to quit acting the man (he is 82) and work out of HIS shop. He told me just to bring my tools... (Inside joke. His garage.)

Hanging out at DSS offices like I did for several months around the state swapping equipment out, there was no shortage of bling, phones, and other luxuries.

Good evening.

Nationally, only 53 percent of the nation lives in a household that pays federal income tax.

When nationally, only 49 percent of the nation lives in a household that pays federal income tax, then we have reached the tipping point. And my FRiends, the situation will get really ugly.

As I recall he was elected with a plurality of the vote, not a majority. It would be interesting to look at a map of where the parasite class is concentrated in Maine, if anywhere. Also, keep in mind, many of them don’t vote at all. Aroostook County is largely very poor but also votes GOP.

We are similar.

I went to college for engineering. Paid my own way. Went part time and worked part time. Sometimes I ran low on money and took a semester off school to work a full time job on top of my part time job. It took me 10 years to finish with no debt. Then went to grad school. Then got a job as an engineer and got laid off after one year of work.

I was out of work for one year and never filed for unemployment. When my savings dried up, I started using credit cards and survived by transferring credit card balances from one card to the next. I literally lived on beans, ramen noodles, and wonder bread. Eventually I gave up looking for engineer work and took up a trade. It took me over 2 years to get debt free and a comfortable savings once I started working again.

Eventually I became my own boss. And now the economy sucks, I’m going broke(fast), and the government is pulling “eminent domain” on me and is playing hardball. They are doing eminent domain via back door method...threatening to condemn the property and bulldoze it, then pay me what the land is worth.

I thank you for your honesty.

I’m fairly confident there are people on this forum who scream to the mods, scream to JimRob that I’m a pest. That I’m a troll.

And yeah, maybe I live in a world that gives entire respect for ALL that the people who gave up their love, blood, and treasure to promote a dream. And some of my posts don’t reflect the current political climate. But I make no apology. And I won’t back down.
