In the terrifying moments after the giant vessel began to list, fights even broke out to get into the lifeboats. Men refused to prioritise women, expectant mothers and children as they pushed themselves forward to escape. Crew ignored their passengers – leaving ‘chefs and waiters’ to help out.

It doesn’t seem that cold, but even that temperature will cause death by hypothermia for many people over a couple of hours, and will probably disable them much sooner than that, particularly the elderly.
What your missing is the difficulty just getting off the ship!!
That was a cheap shot and had nothing to do with C19fan's point.
Now imagine that you have not yet had your first lifeboat drill. The first drill usually takes place before breakfast the first day. This happened just a few hours into the cruise. The passengers had no idea where to go or what to do.

Of course it did: his issue was ‘feminism’ (when, as I pointed out, that didn’t seem to be the primary dynamic in this situation).
Yeah, someone else wrote about 57F. That’s VERY cold, as the effect of water on body temp is dramatically different than air. It’s a good thing it wasn’t very far for the ones who jumped/swam.
His point was that feminism has killed chivalry. It had nothing to do with hiring practices or pay scales.
The Daily Mail story is OK, but it needs more glamor pictures of Rose Metcalf.
I counted only five. What were they thinking?
Feminism isn’t to blame for male crew members pushing ahead of children and the infirm, which is what this story was about.

That may be the way it is but it should not be. The crew should be responsible for the passengers and passengers have the right to complain if they are not.
I get the point about feminism killing chivalry and all that, but feminism coudn’t ever trump how I, and probably most of us, were raised. Put me on that boat, and there’s NO WAY I’m squeezing past a lady and/or a child to jump in a lifeboat. Common decency should trump all the other BS.
The tie to feminism is the communist Friedan who despised women and their God-given design to have babies-—the weaker sex, needing protection so they could do the nurturing of babies so they could grow up to be strong and emotionally healthy, loving human beings-—civil, virtuous people.
The patriarchy has to be destroyed-—the idea of men as protectors of women and children-—to destroy the family unit—making civil society a chaotic mess—so government needs to take over and enforce civility.
Christian Ethics-—the selflessness—preached by this unique religion and example of Christ—the idea to serve and put family first—particularly the weak, even if it means death-—that idea has to be destroyed and our government has activily been destroying Christianity through laws—to silence churches-—to remove the word God from the public square-—to destroy traditions—to remove mothers from their babies—force them into the workplace so children will grow up emotionally damaged with no loyalty to parents-—so that they can be killed in centers with no outcry—population control—euthanasia—and people think—oh, how compassionate—they were too much in pain to have any “quality of life”.
Feminism is to destroy all respect for the opposite sex—remove selflessness—to create a narcissism which destroys all relationships, esp. any children who become addicts and dependents who need government to care for them.
Feminists hate God—hate their bodies’ design and especially hate males—including any sons that they raise. They create people who think of nothing but themselves and materialism, and loathe Christianity and honor, duty, courage,and feed on dragging others to hell.
Feminism—like homosexual “rights”—comes directly from communism—to destroy the family unit—particularly the patriarchy and respect for women-—and Christianity-—the religion which created the idea of Individualism and Natural Rights From God.
Can’t have individualism and God in a collective which wants to be able to kill off the useless eaters and control everything—especially what you are allowed to think and say—like sodomy is “good” and Christians are “bigots” and the Bible is “hate speech”.
In other words-—they decide Right and Wrong-—to destroy Western Civilization which thrived because of the Nicomachean Ethics which was embraced by Christianity—and added the Theological virtues. Most perfect ideology in all of history-—for everyone. But for power—individual rights have to be destroyed-—the Constitution, Christianity and particularly the natural family—the means of transmitting Christian ideals which led to our Constitution.
I don’t care how big or flaunted of a technological advance a cruise ship becomes, no matter if its of the Disney company or with an all American crew people will panic.
And I say this as I was an actual Deck Officer for two years on a cruise boat. And the people panic in just about every tragedy because the crew panics.
The almighty dollar or euro rules the seas.

You don't have to. It's simply an opportunity for angry men to rant about women who divorced them, wouldn't date them or cheated on them. LOL
