Why Gingrich won-Why Romney lost
The Washington Examiner ^ | January 22, 2011 | Byron York

COLUMBIA, SC -- They won't say it publicly -- they didn't want to appear churlish or disrespectful on a night they took a serious beating -- but it's no exaggeration to say that even after losing the South Carolina primary to Newt Gingrich, members of Mitt Romney's circle find it absurd -- almost crazy -- that the former House speaker has even a ghost of a chance of becoming the Republican Party's presidential nominee.

In their view, Gingrich has barely run a campaign. As they see it, Team Gingrich doesn't have the money, professionalism, brains, or organization of the Romney campaign. They see the former Speaker as somewhat unstable and vulnerable to continued attack on issues of ethics and morals. And most of all, they see Gingrich as a candidate who owes his very existence to the never-ending series of Republican debates -- and not much more.

What’s the confussion?

One is a dipshit with vacuous and Platitudeness sound bites.

The other is a visionary with an aggressive agenda that any sane American would support.

Got Newt?

Romney’s folks see the world through the lens of political consultants and PR firms. They’re symptomatic of how insulated and out of touch the entrenched, ruling political class is from reality.

Romenys are angling for an Iowa result in SC...

Who's saying Gingrich won anyway? It's actually a virtual tie between Newt and Mitt. Why, the separation is only a mere 75874 votes. After the certification, we're sure we'll see Mitt actually won!

“Gingrich respected them enough to discuss things with them seriously.”

Goes to precisely prove Newt’s claim

Romney would BUY the presidency if he could.

Too damn bad for Romney.

Newt Gingrich has the debates and the premiere conservative site on the whole of the Internet backing him!

GO NEWT!!

I’m guessing it’s the reasons conservatives always support someone that made them support Gingrich—character and substantial real-world (not government or academic) experience, not to mention opposition to Romneycare.

Obama just called to cancel the movers for next January.

Nice to know that in an open primary like SC in a meaningless dinky little state like SC grandchildren upon birth are looking at $50,000 debt to government.

In spite of all of the M/S hoopla about Mitt, and the large amount of money he has spent, most thinking people realize that Mitt is just an empty suit. People want someone that can go to Washington and turn it around, Mitt is just more of the same/ I remember when Newt was just a back bench bomb thrower, he kept on bring up Jim Wright and all he had done wrong, soon Wright left town, and Newt was still there.

And most of all, they see Gingrich Abraham Lincoln as a candidate who owes his very existence to the never-ending series of Republican debates -- and not much more.

And we all know just how far those debates took him.

They never put their faith where it matters..we, the people..

(All over the news tonight I seen a pattern played over- Newt only won due to his debate performances and he has no message to last. blah blah blah)

“Team Gingrich doesn’t have the money, professionalism, brains, or organization of the Romney.”

Who needs all of that when you have the votes?

You just can't make it any more clear to the "Republican" Establishment....Conservatives are fed up with people like Bobble-headed Romney and friend McCain. Tired of those in the Establishment telling us why and for whom to vote and now trying to discredit Newt Gingrich, a man of superior intellect about America; how the American government works; why and how the U.S. Constitution works; Gingrich does not put up with the status quo if it is in the wrong for the country. He loves America and understands her and shows enormous courage in defending that. We are lucky to have such a man willing to serve...willing to try and lead us out of this Socialist/Marxist morass of bailouts and cronyism with Unions for the last three years under the hyphenated Black American who can't give a speech without his teleprompter or Valery Jarrett telling him what to do.

I wish Newt nothing but good in the quest for the nomination and then the presidency. If history since 1980 is any indication, winning SC foreshadows winning the nomination. After Obama just about any Republican ham sandwich would be a relief, but Newt promises to fill the White House with real attitude.

What I’m curious about is how much FR is clout and how much it is small loyal fan club? Does the Tea Party generally take this premiere site seriously? Does it have any particular reason to sour on Newt like on Mitt?
