Newt speech just on CSPAN-Hispanic Leadership Conference!
January 27, 2012 | Self

I thought Newt just gave a masterful speech, touching on the need to look south and reach out to Central and South America and improve relations and commerce with them, support and encourage democracy and free enterprise. He also highlighted his economic plan and how he wants to encourage entrepreneurship in all communities, including Hispanics. He came out strong in support of using all forms of non military measures to support the rise of freedom in Cuba. He received frequent applause throughout.

Yes, I watched, rolled back, paused it and studied it. Newt was awesome on policy, but the Hispanic audience seemed only mildly impressed, as if something was in their craw. The Puerto Rico woman was needling needlessly, since Newt had already made clear the people of PR have every right to determine statehood for themselves, that there are several options to consider. How about you?

Oh this is rich...

Let’s see the stampede of FReepers in here any second to comment how brilliant this speech was. I’ll be watching for the hypocrites...just for kicks.

Is there a transcript or will it be replayed later?

Whoo Hoo! Someone just phoned CSPAN and was passionate on Newt. Alright, WHO was it? Had to be a FReeper. LOL!

Rubio is on now, wowing the Hispanic conference, speaking in Spanish. I am sure he is about playing both sides against the middle, imho. I like him very much, of course.
I just know he is quite indebted to the Bush influence, a moderate/liberal influence.

He is getting hell from someone. OUCH.

Didn’t see it...and if it was brilliant...it’s not likely the media will let it see the light of day.

That’s just the way it is.

I keep thinking that the Hispanic vote is ripe for republicans to snatch. The ones who are here legally and playing by the book..they want what most of us want.

Yup I watched it. He did an excellent job. I think he was both tired and angry at the debate last night but today he looked nice and relaxed. Go Newt! Even if he loses Florida there are 4 caucuses coming up. Hopefully Freepers can get him over the finish line!

Nope, I'm listening to Rush and he's ripping Eliot Abrams article where he lies about Newt bashing RR.

Rush said that Abrams is the "gold standard" and he was snookered by romneybots, and was duped.

Maybe, and maybe he's just another part of the elites that hate Newt and will lie and cheat to keep him out.

I wish we could do what Mark Steyn suggested the other day and take 25% of each of these 4 guys and we'd have the perfect candidate.

But wish in one hand, XXXX in the other and see which one fills up first.

All I know is, when Perry said a lot of the same things, gangs of freepers showed up on threads calling him Ricardo Perry. Now it’s “brilliant”??? Ah well, as we’re required to say here, GO NEWT!

The next caucuses are in states that Mitt won last time.

Greta is on Newt bus today and will be doing a better part of her show “on the road”

wonder if she’ll report on this event too.

I do believe this was one of the causes of the War Between the States.

Perry was not as clear as Newt, even today at this speech, that people who had been here for 25 years, working, and who had the support of a US family, would not get citizenship, only residency. That is why Perry was hammered so bad.

Romney now speaking to the group, saying some similar things about commerce and immigration.

“The next caucuses are in states that Mitt won last time.”

Remember in 2008 he was considered to be the conservative in the race. Also, in the last Minnesota poll Newt had a huge lead despite going for Romney last time.
