Emails Show How 'Fast and Furious' Ambush News Unfolded At Justice Dept.

For the first time, the Justice Department has made public a series of sensitive messages that passed to the highest levels of the agency within hours of an ambush that killed a U.S. border patrol agent along the Southwest border in December 2010, igniting a national scandal over a gun trafficking investigation gone wrong.

Justice officials sent the documents to Congress late Friday evening, only a few days before Attorney General Eric Holder is set to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The email messages show the former top federal prosecutor in Arizona, Dennis Burke, notifying an aide to Holder via email on Dec. 15, 2010 that agent Brian Terry had been wounded and died. "Tragic," responds the aide, Monty Wilkinson. "I've alerted the AG, the acting Deputy Attorney General..."

Only a few minutes later, Wilkinson emailed again, saying, "Please provide any additional details as they become available to you."

Burke then delivered another piece of bad news: "The guns found in the desert near the murder [sic] ... officer connect back to the investigation we were going to talk about they were AK-47s purchased at a Phoenix gun store."

The attorney general, in testimony to the House and Senate last year, said he feared the Justice Department could be living with the consequences of more than 1,000 guns connected to Fast and Furious that remain unaccounted for years to come.

These are not 1,000 guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. These are 1,000 guns deliberately channeled to known criminals.

Yep, Criminal Federal Justice Department Employees funnelled guns directly to known criminal drug runners.

Is that specific enough? hee hee hee

Hitler had his Reichstag fire and Gleiwitz Incident, which were basically the same type of operation.

The Reichstag fire was set by his people and blamed on communists to crack down on the commie opposition.

The Gleiwitz incident was a faked “Polish” attack on German soil, with dead camp victims in Polish uniforms used as “Polish” soldiers killed for proof.

The “media” in Germany conspired to get 6 million Jews murdered. What is going on here is not new.

What’s really sad is German’s thought they were Luther’s “Holy” Germany, just like people still think the US is a “Christian” nation protected by God.

Agent Terry was killed while performing an ambush style operation to apprehend a rip crew.

There is reason to believe that Agent Terry's crew knew nothing about the rip crew and the rip crew knew nothing in advance about Agent Terry's crew.

FBI Criminal Informant Complicit in Brian Terry’s Death (PJM Exclusive)

Previously, Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s death in Peck Canyon, Arizona was described as a chance meeting that led to a firefight: an illegal alien “rip crew” working for the Sinaloa cartel was hoping to find other illegal aliens and to rob them at gunpoint. Instead, they stumbled across a Border Patrol unit and murdered Agent Terry.

Last week, the Washington Times offered a new version of the encounter: they reported that the rip crew was not hunting illegals, but Border Patrol teams — with the intention of engaging them in combat.

Sources now tell PJ Media that neither version of events is accurate: the rip crew was not waiting for a chance encounter with other illegals, nor did the members intend to engage American law enforcement agents.

The rip crew was in Peck Canyon that evening with the intention of stealing money and drugs from a specific shipment of which they had prior knowledge.

(snip)

The rip crew knew to be in Peck Canyon that December evening because a CI working for the FBI found out about a smuggling run — from the FBI.

(snip)

A source tells PJM that the FBI knew from wiretaps that the CI was using their information to set up an ambush. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) — through its own CIs and communications intercepts — was also aware of the planned assault. Neither the DEA nor FBI warned Border Patrol about the expected criminal activity.

(snip)

Multiple sources tell PJM that this third weapon “disappeared” because it was the weapon carried by the FBI CI who ran the rip crew. When it was recovered near the scene of the murder and subsequently traced by the ATF, it traced back to the FBI CI via the gun shop in Texas where it was purchased.

(snip)

Neither agency bothered to warn Border Patrol to keep their BORTAC teams out of Peck Canyon that evening. As a direct result of this FBI and DEA failure — combined with Homeland Security forcing BORTAC units to carry less-lethal beanbag rounds in some of their primary weapons — Brian Terry’s under-armed four-man unit walked into an ambush against a heavily armed rip crew, at least five of whom were carrying rifles.

Brian Terry’s murder was entirely preventable. The incompetence of the DEA and FBI let his Border Patrol unit walk into an ambush. After the ambush, it appears the FBI tampered with evidence to cover up that one of their informants was involved with the murder of a federal agent.

Ya, I knew of those things that Hitler did to gain power etc, but I suppose it’s just hard to fathom the same machine at work again here in North America.

We need patriots, men and women of valour, who can expose evil where they find it.

We also need people who know how to tactfully correct the good people who just do not still accept just how bad things are and can get here.

I read a comment by a freeper the other day who said that calling Obama evil was too extreme and would just fail to convince others who are on the fence.

I see their point, but we are in a battle of ideas for the soul of this nation. It’s time to roughly shake the naive awake and out of their intellectual slumber.

You think it’s hard to convince people there, you should try here in Canada, it’s ridiculous. That’s why I’m so intent on what is happening there, this place is a lost cause, I don’t believe it can be reversed. Anyone here that even thinks of that just has the “I’m only one man” attitude.

I hope the US can do a 180, and sail towards prosperity and freedom, not necessarily in that order.

Thanks for that summary.

I had previously read all of it, but not in one place.

To me, it is credible.

Now the real issue is who involved in the planning of this takes the blame. Since it exhibits multi agency coordination, I am convinced the entire blame rest solely on BHO, Jr. (aka Obozo)

My theory, based on no specific evidence of a connection, is that Hillary came up with the idea passed it to Valerie Jarrett and Jarrett talked 0bozo into it who then acted like it was all his plan and told Holder to get ‘er done. Leaving Hillary several steps away from it all ... just as she planned.

“Valerie Jarrett”

Very evil Hard Leftist thing.

Both she and Obozo are said to speak fluent Farsi. Both have from childhood Middle East connections. Both Hate the U.S. Terrible combination of people (vermin).

Der Hilderbeast? Capable of almost anything, inept at foreign policy at all levels, but corrupt enough to somehow survive in that environment. Doubt this is her brainchild, although she hates our freedom in all forms, especially the 2nd Amendment. As did the bent one, Slick Willie.

For all practical purposes Jarrett and Obozo are both Foreign Nationals. Both seek to destroy the U.S.

This is where we are. It is TIME to fix this. A lot rides on November 2012. They will try their bests to steal the election.

The American Eagle is awakened, is angry, I can see the gleam in her eye and hear the shriek of her voice. The talons are not yet drawn, but it will come.

Part of the reason I suspect Hillary is her participation in promoting the "Mexican guns come from the U.S." angle. The other part is that the State Dept. should be involved in any legal transfer of weapons to a foreign country and should want to be aware of illegal transfers conducted by gov agencies and operatives. In that light one would expect some coordination between the State Dept. and the CIA when it is funneling heavy weaponry to organized crime syndicates in a foreign country.

"Grenade-walking" part of "Gunwalker" scandal

And this...

Worse Than Gunwalker? State Dept. Allegedly Sold Guns to Zetas

Phil Jordan, a former CIA operative and one-time leader of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s El Paso Intelligence Center, claims that the Obama administration is running guns to the violent Zetas cartel through the direct commercial sale of military grade weapons:

Jordan, who served as director of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s El Paso Intelligence Center in 1995, said the Zetas have shipped large amounts of weapons purchased in the Dallas area through El Paso.

(snip)

“They’ve found anti-aircraft weapons and hand grenades from the Vietnam War era,” Plumlee said. Other weapons found include grenade launchers, assault rifles, handguns and military gear including night-vision goggles and body armor.

More about State Department involvement...

— has sources claiming “Obama’s man in the State Department,” (former) Deputy Secretary of State Jim Steinberg, was the State Department operative who helped Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and the Department of Justice Deputy Attorney General David Ogden formulate the strategy that led to the tactics used in Operation Fast and Furious.

Steinberg took office as Deputy Secretary of State on January 28, 2009

A little more than two years later, it was announced that Steinberg's time in the Obama State Department was over. From the New York Times, 30 March 2011:

Mrs. Clinton heaped praise on Mr. Steinberg, describing him as an “indispensable” partner. “On every foreign policy challenge, big and small, he has helped formulate our policy and oversee its execution,” she wrote. Mr. Steinberg, she said, played “Oscar to Jack Lew’s Felix,” referring to Jacob J. Lew, her other deputy, who left earlier this year to become Mr. Obama’s budget director.

Sipsey Street Exclusive: "In at the beginning." The State Department & the Gunwalker Scandal.

"Grenade Walker" seems like another finger on the same hand as F&F and DEA money laundering and other ops. Anyway, it's just a theory based mostly on gut feeling. I've never thought Hillary was very bright but I do think she is more savvy than 0bungles.

I have no doubt of Hillary’s involvement, but I simply don’t think this is her gig.

Jarrett & Obozo planned this......

Hillary is along for the ride.

5-7 Agencies involved? No other conclusion than Obozo himself signed off on this.

You are so right. This article doesn’t even scratch the surface of what happened and how it happened. This is a disgrace and all the guilty parties need to be prosecuted.

This is complete bullshit. Nobdody from the cartels is going to purposely hump 15 miles into the interior of the United States to engage a Border Patrol Tactical team in combat when they can simply snipe regular line agents right on the damn border..geeze. Agent Terry's team ambushed a rip crew. Agent Terry's team initiated contact with less lethal and the rip crew wet their panties and fired AK's hysterically into the night. Unfortunately a round missed Terry's body armor and caused a fatal injury. I wish people would stop trying to make Border Patrol Agents out be a bunch of punk victims.
