Mitts only support was the party establishment aka the libs of the party. 75% conservative, 25% liberal.

If Santorum wins the nomination it will be interesting to see the 25% reaction. From the 1930’s on we conservatives were expected to rally behind the parties candidate and do our duty which we pretty much have done up until 2008. Out of all those years getting only Goldwater and Reagan as conservative candidates.

If Santorum wins the nomination I expect we lose half of the 25% to obama, as they have shown they are typical of most liberals, when they lose they take their marbles and go home mad.

The 2010 congressional elections if anything showed us what to expect from the establishment cry babies when they don’t get their way, they cut and run or out right trash the conservative nominee. If indeed this happens and Santorum pulls wins the White House I hope he sends the establishment pri*%s packing and hires not one of them.

Watch the video at the link on the Rasmussen site as he breaks down the Ohio numbers and national numbers with a Fox News reporter.

Rasmussen said this was huge and Fox News had to show it!

“If the GOP Primary were held with only these candidates, who would you choose?”

55% Santorum
34% Romney

These “Likely” voter polls are more accurate than the polls that are only among registered voters.

Romney is in a heap of trouble... YAY!!!

Democrats are going to be motivated to vote no matter what. Obama has given them everything they wanted if not more. The race card alone will probably be enough to make them turn out again.

It’s the moderates and independents who might be motivated based on the economic factors you’re talking about. But they are all over the map on social issues. There’s no clear gain or loss to be had on that front.

Republican turnout has been a huge problem in this primary so far. There’s no guarantee they’re automatically going to show up at the polls either without motivation.

There are also a lot of voters like Catholics in all parties who are liberal on economics and like what Obama’s doing there, but could be motivated to vote Republican based on social issues like what Obama’s doing to the church now.

You’re also taking a huge gamble that the economy DOESN’T recover. Economic issues might not work AT ALL this election. And if you think that’s the only way Republicans can win an election, you’re wrong.

No, you are the one who is dreaming and it is weird that a guy who just a couple months ago was considered a RINO is somehow Mr Conservative. LOL.

Please, don’t do this to yourself. Newt is not a popular guy. He will never secure the nomination. That isn’t your fault, it is his fault.

Newt is the only anti-establishment candidate in the race. I’d like to see the percentage on how often Santorum voted with Bush. I’m thinking 99%? Santorum does not stand up to the establishment, he stands with the establishment. He would never compromise his position on abortion, but anything else seems to be fair game.

It’s been proven 100 times over that Newt is more conservative than Santorum.

Newt has become more liberal the older he has gotten. He has proved over the past years that he is not a guy people can trust. I think people now believe he will say anything to get elected.

If people wanted Newt, he would be on top. Instead he polls behind Ron Paul. I guess people at least think Paul is consistent.

You just made my point. The squishy middle, whom are needed to win an election, are motivated by fiscal sanity. That is the msg that needs to be hammered home by the candidates.

“It’s been proven 100 times over that Newt is more conservative than Santorum.”

Only if you think attacking capitalism, pushing global warming and amnesty for illegals is conservative.

Newt’s the guy who called Ryan’s plan right wing engineering. Santorum supports the Ryan plan.

Newt’s the guy who attacked those who were against ethanol subsidies. He even called for a government mandate that every car must be able to run on ethanol.

Santorum: “My position is that we should phase out all energy subsidies and create a level playing field,” the Pennsylvania Republican said in remarks after lunch to about 50 people at the Steve and Jan Boender farm in rural Oskaloosa.

I used to think we could beat Obama if we nominated an arrogant jackass. I think people are looking for a decent and honest person they can trust, not another arrogant jackass.

Amen exactly my position, go Rick and another few dollars on the way.

Fine then, so if the football team is winning and you get the ball you rather run the ball in the opposite direction and give the other team a touchdown, yeah, really smart.

Oh, wow... A photo of Santorum with his arm around former President Bush, a fellow Republican. This is no doubt going to destroy Santorum... He has no chance of winning now and should just drop out of the race. </sarc>
