WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama's job approval rating, weighed down by soaring gas prices, has plunged below 50 per cent, giving his political opponents what appears to be an opening in the November election, a new opinion poll showed.
The survey by ABC News and The Washington Post indicated that only 46 per cent of Americans now approved of the way Obama is handling his job and 50 per cent disapproved.
The situation was a reversal from early February when 50 per cent approved of the president's performance and 46 per cent disapproved.
According to the survey, the drop was attributed to soaring gas prices threatening to crimp America's slow recovery from a recession.

It's also ironic to hear lefties moan about disenfranchisement when their attempts at gerrymandering or ballot box stuffing fail. But what is more disenfranchising than having no choice at the polls for one's entire life?

The media is just millions of daily free ads for Obama from a million media outlets. The rest of the stories are about Whitney Houston,sports, or Kim Kardishian to distract us from real problems Obama/democrats/socialism is causing.

Well, 46% probably don’t even own a car, or take the bus, or just wander aimlessly around their urban environments. They don’t own anything, or purchase anything with money they actually earned, so they don’t have a lot going to provide as a reference. They also don’t pay taxes, so, you know ...who cares about much of anything, right? This also unfortunately describes a lot of young people who continue to rely on their parents for everything, even those with college degrees.
It’s like how right now I’m insisting my son work at whatever menial jobs he can find so he gets the value of money. If you don’t work, you don’t understand it. He’s now finding out how hard he has to work to keep his tank full and lately with gas prices rising ...well, he’s seeing the light.
It’s starting to sink in a bit ... he has a job where he pays no taxes — but wait until that last piece gets put in.
For many Americans, it may never sink in.
At times, a bit too fickle and superficial of a (formerly proud and responsible) People for my liking... REALLY! It is pretty pathetic that popularity numbers can move so back and forth like this in a very volatile manner and you can either anesthetize or piss so many average American voters off over something as simple as a freaking tank of regular gas. The foreigner and his merciless radical czars are destroying the US Constitution and US military right before our eyes, and is ramping up for the big power grab with a domestic Gestapo on steroids, and people will continue to give him a pass...that is, until over the family dining table the numbers are crunched and folks realize they won’t have enough money for
petrol this year and have to tell the kids: “No Disney World this summer,
sorry.” If they have this weak of a moral core, or are that asleep and ill-informed about the Republic these days, I truly believe they can be flipped back en-masse for Obama just as easily over something else, at just the right time: late October.
Really? That’s the main gripe? How sad.
What is sad is that after all that he has done, it takes something relatively insignificant like gas prices for people to turn on him.
Americans are forgiving to a fault and are easily fooled by a good smile and a wave. But Americans don’t like pain and this president’s dishing it out.
If the calculus turns far enough out of his favor he will throw the Enviros under the bus and agree to build the pipeline. It will make him look like a hero. He was probably planning to do it after the election anyhow.
And he has a long track record of throwing his friends under the bus when they become too politically inconvenient.
The other thing he will do is hold Stalinist show trials for Grrrrreeedy Oil Speculators in order to placate the OWS crowd.

We have had a slight increase in total for a deep decline. We are no where near our past peak.
It’s mind-boggling how the media gets away with using a 75% democrat skewed data sampling in these “polls”. Actually, just about everything they do is mind-boggling and rarely challenged.
Since we import far more crude oil from other nations than we produce ourselves, that will not happen. Good luck trying to nationalize oil production in Saudi Arabia or others.
Make no mistake, gas prices will be coming down this fall and the yellow journalists (alphabet networks and the nyslimes) will shill for Bo. The strategic reserve will also be used to assist obmugabe retain power as necessary.
