Please, slow down in the icy roads!

Please, dive safely. We need all of us to vote against Obama.

You really can’t tell if he hit the brakes....not that it would have mattered in those conditions.

But serving would be the absolute last thing he should have done.

I have a hard time believing this video, the SUV broke up into too many parts.

Well, you’re and Old Okie, I’m just some dork from Tahlequah.

Maybe being off the reservation gives me a different perspective. LOL

Vehicle must have been made of balsa wood and put together by Mattel.

Dude never stood a chance.

Good point. Drive a Forester with all studded snow tires. Have them on all the cars in the house (separate rims). It is a pain to change them all in April and November, but they make an incredible difference. I am amazed at the SUVs I see during the PA winters with summer tires.

I can’t tell if it is an SUV or a pickup with camper shell. The way the back end shatters it loos more like a camper shell and bed liner flying apart. Looks like one can see air bags or else the vehicle rolled under the large truck.

Tractor trailer appears to have attempted to steer a little bit towards the shoulder. After impact he appears to have jack-knifed with his cab going to the right and trailer aiming to the left.

Follow-up video a day later.

Appears to be a real accident in Russia.
(I didn’t know they drove on the right hand side of the road.)

Having worked in a large hospital's ER for many years I saw the results of such accidents many, many times. My experiences there might be at least partially responsible for the fact that in 44 years of driving I've never gotten a ticket for a moving violation and have had only one accident (rear-ended...not my fault).

Not this one, apparently. The other one had a similar message (mentioned drivers ed) but it didn’t matter.

BTW, I did find this video on youtube.

What really amazes me about this video is that the vehicle seems to just disintegrate. Must be a lot of plastic parts on those things.

Studded tires? Well, yes and no. My state’s take:

—The truck driver made no attempt to avoid the suv; he didn’t brake, or swerve. He cannot possibly have been paying attention to what was happening around him.—

Two things:
1. In those road conditions you can’t tell if he hit the brakes or not because he would have simply continued to slide.
2. And that is why hitting the brakes would not have been the best way to handle it. It’s like when a deer runs out in front of you and it’s too close to avoid. You drive straight through it and gradually come to a stop.

But the raw judgmentalism of your post bothers me on a personal level. Don’t get me wrong. I may be misinterpreting your intent.

It’s obvious that you have never driven (well) on ice or snow.

“2010 Nissan Frontier received the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Highest Side-impact Safety Rating (5 stars).”

(Same vehicle marked as the Navara in Asia.)
