none of our candidates right now is going to get them excited, boring take one for the team Santorum , old Newt with baggage and Romney the elitist say anything to get elected.

Col Allen West and Sarah would have rocked the base and there would have been so much excitement about that ticket but yet again the GOP wants their elitist liberally social guy because all they care about is their own pockets and their power.

Race war may have been to inflammatory. But I stand by the concept of generating conflict as a means of eliminating apathy as far as the Dems are concerned. If they can keep their targeted demographics glued to the TV then they can move them to vote in the desired manner and thus continue the current administration.

There is hope for the future. A couple of thousand students were chanting “End the Fed” at a Ron Paul rally at the UW-Madison Thursday. They cheered at eliminating the IRS. Such thoughts have not been uttered on this campus for the last 50 years.

That is good news. All the young people, college kids and 20s, seem very excited about Ron Paul.

Romney sure isn’t going to excite them

He doesn't have to. Let the kiddies stay home if they want to. They were a huge margin, almost 2:1 for Obama in 2008.

For those who believe that good intentions trump actual results, a race war is always a useful rhetorical device.

Bring back memories of the 1960s, when the GOP got 60 percent of the white vote in 2010? It doesn't sound too smart

How many people remember the 60s? Even a lot of the people who are old enough still really remember that era, and people who were born in the late 70s and 80s - and are therefore of voting age - have no concept of what went on then, their connection with real history having been almost completely severed by the liberalism infecting most public schools.

George H. W. Bush can’t be considered a “Massachusetts candidate” or a “Massachusetts president.” He grew up in Connecticut, where his dad was a US Senator for quite a long time, and went to Yale. Most of his adult life has been spent in Texas, which he represented in Congress for one term.

The students who will graduate this May know plenty of people who graduated several years ago who are underemployed or unemployed. Like you said, they won’t admit it for the most part.

That doesn't matter. What matters is the reaction Obama's race baiting and class warfare gets. He's killing the Jacksonian Democrats with his environmental and energy policies too. The rats didn't do very well in the elections of 1968 and 1972.

And remember Bill Ayers/Bernadine Dorn/Weather Underground, it’s part of how they organize off campus. On campus will be organized too, it would be short sited to think otherwise.

Yes, I was playing a little fast-and-loose...if I included GHWB, I should have left out Coolidge since he was born in Vermont.

I don't think there will ever be signs at the Massachusetts state line saying "Welcome to Massachusetts--Birthplace of George Herbert Walker Bush."

Bobo can't win. He has no path to victory. His team has admitted they're playing off the Kerry map.

Yes, it does matter, because it’s only those who either remember the 60s, or who have a strong understanding of the actual history of the 60s (and the 70s, to boot), who have sufficient understanding to know what the inevitable consequences are when you start a race-war. Those who do not are all too susceptible to being coopted into thinking that they’re participating in just another virtuous fight for liberation.

Someone who has played golf and acted like he's retired while in office isn't going to appeal to struggling college students.
