Why I Called George Zimmerman a Murderer, and Why I Was Wrong

On March 17, I thought I had it all figured out. I wrote a post [1] on my blog in which I pronounced America’s most famous neighborhood watch captain guilty:

At this point I don't have *nearly* enough info to reach a firm conclusion.However what I've seen suggests that Zimmerman had the right to shoot under the circumstances.To be *absolutely* certain,one way or the other,I want to know *everything* I can learn about Zimmerman and the kid...from independent sources (opinions of family/friends don't count).Drugs...arrests...school records...facebook/twitter posts,etc,etc,etc.I want to see the pathology report on the kid.I want to see any medical reports that might have been written about Zimmerman after the incident...with photos,if taken.

My *hunch* at this moment is that the kid was a gangsta punk in the making (twitter/facebook posts I've seen attributed to him...school suspensions) and that Zimmerman was a reasonably respectable,if not fully respectable,guy.

I guess I’m prejudiced. I didn’t fall for the original story because it fit too nicely into the main-stream media PC racial paradigm.

Which means I never believe what I hear from them in the first two weeks. So far, I’ve never been wrong with this practice. I thought there was probably no rape at duke, too.

The time may come when I turn out to be mistaken. Real evidence trumps all, in my book. But until you have it, go with the probabilities.

This article sets a very clear stage of events. Zimmerman lost sight of Martin who was already embarking on a sneak attack, 'clocking' Zimmerman from behind in true 'gansta' fashion. If even the slightest fingerprint of Martin is on Zimmerman's gun, Martin LOSES in more ways than one.

IMHO, Zimmerman was screaming for help not because his head was being bashed, but because a life-threatening struggle over a gun had ensued. Martin made the mistake of assaulting an armed person, THAT is the overriding factor here.
