Does the Government Have the Ability to Turn All Americans into Criminals?

Posted on 04/22/2012 11:14:23 AM PDT by pinochet

The indictment of George Zimmerman for second degree murder was not based on facts or evidence, but on politics. Even the left-wing lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, accused the prosecutor of "over-charging" Zimmerman, in the hope that he will be frightened into entering a plea bargain for a lesser charge. We are no longer living in the America of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Today, the prosecution and conviction of people for crimes is not based on facts and evidence, but on the whims of politicians. This issue goes beyond Mr. Zimmerman, and makes us focus on the much broader question; Is America really the free nation that it once was?

The well known joke that says that a prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich, if he chooses to, is no longer a joke at all. We have so many useless laws on the books, most of which are unconstitutional, that a prosecutor can convict you of something, even if you are totally innocent. The Supreme Court only gets to examine less than 1 percent of the unconstitutional laws, because 9 Judges cannot overturn the hundreds of thousands of such laws that are on the books. Every year, the congress, state legislatures, and city councils, pass thousands of new unconstitutional laws. In addition, civil service bureaucrats at the local, state, and federal level, pass new government regulations that are enforced using judges and police officers.

When Friedrich Hayek wrote "Road to Serfdom" in 1944, he predicted the future of America, which has been transformed from a country of free men to a nation of feudal serfs.

“Speaking as a Prosecutor of 25 years ... yes absolutely. And shame on anyone that supported the Patriot Act. That one Act has turned our Government into our adversary.”

I have to admit, I was fine with it as I reasoned “it was very temporary step” necessary during a time of war. I was wrong and it is a terrible infringement on our rights. I was reading the other day where a woman was being frisked and she was sobbing uncontrollably at the humiliation and the pig that frisked her finished and simply walked away...no heart, no soul, just like the Gestapo were. People have no idea but the same thing as happened in Nazi Germany can happen here and is already begun.

I remember arguing vociferously with my circle of friends, mostly evangelical conservatives. they simply could not conceive of a circumstance where all the power being focused on our “enemies” could ever be refocused on them. When I pointed out to them that the Attorney General could unilaterally declare them as enemy combatants and terrorists, they just shook their heads like I was crazy.

I truly wish I had been wrong.

Have the ability?

Got news for you: This government - independent of whether or not it's controlled by Democrats or Republican's seems to find new ways daily to make each and every one of us criminals.

Congress and the White House have for years believed their "productivity" is based on the number of laws they pass each year.

I view each law they pass as an infringement on our personal liberties.

I would hope most right-thinking American's would agree with that statement, sadly I seem to be in an ever diminishing crowd.

I used to think I’d end my days in prison for being pro-life.

But, now I think it’ll be because the government somehow knows I “think” homosexuality is a sin.

With or without the Patriot Act you support the indictment of George Zimmerman.

That is the problem.

Too bad even that isen’t even true anymore. You have to behave as the Government wants or your “breaking a law”. Inactivity is a chargeable offence in Massachusetts, and if Obamacare stands everywhere else.

The present government of theses united States, like the Government of Massachusetts sees us as nothing more than serfs, a form of slave.

Why, yes . . . the government can turn us all into criminals. But that also means the converse, the government itself is a criminal conspiracy. And, unless you are a total government drone, you know that you are vastly outnumbered by all of those criminals you have manufactured. The brighter drones will understand this, but the older and fatter and tenured drones will not.

The idiots controlling the government drones actually want a Civil War 2 in America so they can implement their Socialist-Marxist utopia. Civil wars are not civil. Once you let the worms out of the can, there is no way to re-can them. There is also no way to know which way the fight will go, either. Another question for Obama: how many of your government thugs can you really depend upon to wage war on America's citizens?
