This is the ultimate in narcissism. Obama, commenting upon his sudden public approval of gay marriage, was just shown stating that he couldn't stand the idea of soldiers and sailors out there fighting on HIS behalf when they were not free to be in gay relationships.
Forget the gay marriage issue. Our military is fighting on HIS behalf?
Could he be dumb enough to have confused behalf and behest?
We all have a bit of healthy narcissism, it is what helps us overcome negative situations and strive for goals and have a normal level of self-esteem. With Obama, as with other Narcissists, what evolves is a very unhealthy, unbalanced, need to be loved and appreciated because sometime in their life they suffered an extremes sense of being unworthy.
Obama's narcissistic personality probably resulted from not knowing who his father really was, being dragged to Indonesia by his mother to live with another man who, apparently, had no close or loving ties with Obama, and of course, being abandoned by Mom to live with grandparents who didn't seem to happy about the situation and having a bi-racial grandson.
All of his characteristics can be explained when one considers the bizarre childhood he had , not knowing who he was, where he fit in, and who cared about him. It is sad, really...but worse...it is dangerous for our country to have this sick man as our leader. Obama is a text-book-classic example of a malignant narcissist. Just as most dictators are and were.
It is not just a point of ridicule to say that and it is not meant to be a real criticism, because the man is really mentally sick. Obama has a very serious condition and I am sure those who are closest to him, and promote/support him are well aware that his psyche is quite disturbed. I am sure they have continually done whatever they could, whatever was necessary, to keep him from breaking down under the pressures of criticism and failures. But they have used him for their own anti-American, hateful goals because the Narcissist needs to be loved, adored, and needed every minute of his life and that makes him gullible. As long as his puppeteers feed his fragile ego, he willingly performs as they wish.
This is why, for years and years, I have said that all high level elected officials should have to undergo a thorough psychiatric test before being having their name on a ballot. Just like corporations and industries administer personality tests when choosing and employing people for leadership and management positions. Those tests are performed to help employers weed out people who are not emotionally well balanced, not able to handle pressures and criticisms, are not good team players, will lie, cheat, and steal, and whose leadership abilities are below par. People who run our country should be, at the least, subjected to the same scrutiny as those who are hired to serve in high administrative and management positions.
The Emperor B is really using the royal WE. See, it , life, is all about him and how as former Speaker Jim Wright once said, ‘we just want to help you’, from your money, liberty, and choices. So do not be surprised that this mentally challenged Prez thinks he is not only the Savior as some claim but the enth degree of what a real Prez should be in America. His Tyranny.

Obama is quoted as having said, while still in Indonesia, that he would be president, and would have the army protecting him personally. It's not a new thought w him. Otoh, if his comment is just regular presidential talk [as opposed to Malignant Narcissism in overdrive] then surely other POTUSs have said the same or very similar. Down through the decades, I’ve seen news commentators apologizing during election campaigns for the usual silliness that goes on with campaign rhetoric, etc. In the final analysis, they contended that the saving grace of all this apparent political nonsense was that our political process made it impossible for a fool or a nut-case from becoming President.
Our problem now is that many of the old assumptions no longer hold. The American masses no longer have the common sense wisdom derived from responsibilities such as raising a family and acquiring a productive trade. Now we look more like Rome in its decline when the populace were in love with their crazy, depraved Emperors.
People with a paucity of useful skills or knowledge have been sold the idea that they were being victimized by an uncaring society. Working women demand the “right” of free contraceptives and instant free abortions to rectify the consequences of recreational sex, courtesy the taxpayer. Gay men have demanded, and attained, the right to openly express their sexuality in the armed forces in spite of long past experience that this has a devastating effect on morale. A black op-ed columnist recently wrote that George Zimmerman should volunteer to spend 8 to 10 years in prison to dissuade racial violence.
Such “victimized” groups, who in aggregate may actually form a majority of the population, have fallen for the romantic notion of the mysterious stranger who has come to save them from the miserliness of the few who just want to be left alone. They voted for someone whose past is virtually nonexistent, who promised during his campaign for president to “fundamentally transform” this country, and whose associations provide a certainty that he has always been a leftist radical. And after a disastrous first term, he has at least even chance of being elected to a second term in which is he will be virtually unaccountable for his actions. We’ve gone from common sense to irresponsibility on steroids.

I've never seen people go so far out of their way to explain and excuse the creepy things a POTUS does and says as they do for this one. It's very strange. At some point you'd think people would get tired of cleaning up Obama’s messes, verbal and otherwise. So far, that point has not come.

But Mr. Obama actually did bare his soul unintentionally today (perhaps the Biden disease is catching) with his astonishing characterization of American fighting men and women, whom he referred to as “those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf.” Really?
Most Americans thought they were fighting for the country, not on Barack Obama’s behalf. Slip of the tongue, to be sure, but can one think of another president who’d have made it? They are fighting under his command, under his orders, to be sure, but this particular locution is offensive and solipsistic. Mr. Obama has switched his position on the sanctity of marriage back and forth and has a new one, again, today, revealed when politics made that advisable to him and to his campaign. Whether this is the end or he will “evolve” some more is anyone’s guess.
But let’s leave our soldiers out of this. They aren’t fighting for Mr. Obama and his campaign, and no one sent them out to risk their lives to win same sex “marriage.”

The military DO NOT swear allegiance to the Office of the President. We swore allegiance to the United States and agreed to follow the orders of “those appointed over us.” The word “president” appears nowhere in the oath.
