Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel has cut Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown's lead to just six points in the latest Quinnipiac University poll, released Thursday morning. Brown leads Mandel 46 percent to 40 percent.
The last time Quinnipiac released a poll on the race, on March 29, Brown led Mandel 46 percent to 36 percent. And a February Quinnipiac poll showed Brown up by 13 points, 48 percent to 35 percent.
Brown leads Mandel narrowly among independent voters, 42 percent to 38 percent. In the previous Quinnipiac poll, Brown held a heftier lead of 46 percent to 28 percent among independents.

Good news in Ohio.
Good news indeed!
Having seen that idiot brown frequently on MSNBC, I would think anybody in Ohio would be ashamed to vote for anybody that stupid.
Checking the internals on the poll, it is BAD news for Brown, if Mandel can use it to his advantage. The “don’t know enough about him % was still over 50% and they are surveying registered voters, which typically skews RAT by 3-4 pts. M2C.
The Tea Party groups in Ohio have 2 goals:
1. Defeat Obama
2. Defeat that greasy weasel Brown
Thanks Clintonfatigued.
I hope he hands brown his hat and shows him to the door !
Good news for now, this is THE most important Senate race of the 2012 cycle, if Mandel beats Brown, Romney beats Obama in Ohio, giving Romney much easier paths to 270 EVs.
The Senate seat, control of the Senate, and control of the Executive are balancing on this race, and both sides know it.
It’s going to be a wild ride.
Brown is running nonstop ads on tv here in OH. Not one mention of his “accomplishments,” just negatives about Namdel and the end of the ad says,’Mandel - just another politician we can’t trust.” I double over in laughter every time I hear that ad. What makes Sherrod Brown think anyone trusts his commie arse? I’m hoping Mandel will come out with some ads soon, because I haven’t seen any on tv.
He must be campaigning though if he has tightened the race.
This is the second straight poll from liberal Quinnipiac University in which Sherrod Brown can’t get more than 46% of registered voters. I think Mandel will win by around 53%-46%.
Isn't it the other way around? The presidential candidate usually attracts votes to the candidates lower down on his party's ticket. At least that's the old traditional wisdom.
Every Conservative should run their own race and not try to tie themselves to a deeply flawed Presidential nominee (presuming the GOP doesn’t do the right thing and dump Willard).
Furthermore, incumbent Brown's polling under 50% is bad news for him, since undecideds tend to break predominantly for the challenger.
Agreed!
Quinnipiac = pro dem push poll.
It depends. Ohio doesn’t seem to split tickets as much as some other states. I think Brown is in a stronger position than Obama so I’d be surprised if Mandel won and Romney didn’t.
2004 South Dakota was an interesting case of coattails. Bush’s coattails helped pull Thune to victory. But Dashole brought out 105% of the Indian vote and they of course voted for Kerry too and helped South Dakota be one of only 3 states where Bush got a (in this case slightly) smaller total % of the vote than in 2000 (others were VT and NC, just barley, I guess thanks to Edwards).
Who out there knows anything about this young man? His campaign mailer was good enough to make me wish to donate in a big way. But I would like to get a read on his core beliefs if possible.
