Katherine Jenerette is a long time FReeper, an Army Captain and a military veteran that just came back from a tour in Afghanistan, a Tea Party activist who is running a shoe-string budget campaign as one of the 9 candidates for a seat in a new Congressional District (CD-7) which will likely result in a run-off against frontrunner, former SC Lt. Governor André Bauer.

If SC Tea Party wants to send a message that it isn't 'fringe' in this election, then voting for Katherine Jenerette this coming Tuesday is one of the best ways to prove it.

Please, anybody but Bauer.

This one is coming up and we’d better hope that the Republican nominee isn’t unsuitable.

Katherine Jenerette has a great back ground but she is too mired in her Husband’s nasty divorce to be considered a candidate. Some really nasty lies and accusations that could be used by the ‘Rats if she was ever in a primary fight.His Ex would probably piss herself with glee to be used against her.

It's always a concern, but it's also a reality that this can be not only easily overcome, but turned into an advantage - e.g., Nikki Haley had all kinds of vicious lies and accusations thrown against her two years ago, and that only helped her advance in the primary and she went on to easily win the governorship, despite all the gleeful assertions by her detractors that she would be a "gift" to Democrats in the general election.

Trying to avoid so-called "controversy" or "controversial" candidates and playing it "safe" has never served conservatives (and/or Republicans) well; I don't think I have to bring up the [in]famous examples.

Attacks against conservatives, especially TP conservatives, won't stop (Nikki is the subject of the latest IRS and FBI "investigation" rumors) but that's all the more the reason to do everything we can to keep electing them. Once people will see that the Alinsky's tactics backfire, the "game" should change "radically" in our favor.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - When about nine or more candidates are vying for the same ticket it tends to be hard to winnow out the field and pick a favorite. But in the new South Carolina Congressional District Seven race for the GOP nomination, the choice was made pretty clear to me once I learned that Katherine Jenerette was on that ticket.

I met Katherine back in January at a state teaparty convention at Myrtle Beach where she was a featured speaker. As soon as she took stage to speak I was impressed with her persona and self assuredness. Her speech was on national security which is an area that she has a great deal of first hand experience in. I remember thinking to myself at the time that this was a woman that would make a great political leader. Little did I know then that she would be a candidate for the only congressional seat in the state to really be contested in the 2012 GOP primary.

After meeting her I “friended” Katherine on Facebook and began to learn more about her. The more I learned the more I was convinced that she is a natural leader, and a non-establishment conservative. Of the other candidates in the race, there are some pretty good ones, and others not so good; but none who stand out like Katherine.

Her stellar experience as a career U.S. Soldier and veteran of two conflicts set her apart from the rest of the field. Katherine entered the Army as a 19 year old and was deployed to Iraq after the invasion of Kuwait in 1991 – Operation Desert Storm. More recently she has served in Afghanistan and was awarded the Combat Action Badge for her role during an insurgent attack in Kandahar Province last fall. She is a Paratrooper and currently holds the rank of Captain in the Army Reserve.

In addition to her exemplary military service, Katherine is also a scholar. She is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University and holds a Masters Degree from USC –Columbia. She taught as a college history instructor before being deployed to Afghanistan. She is the mother of four children and has been married for nearly two decades. Katherine Jenerette seems to be modern-day Renaissance Woman.

Having been involved in the political/public arena Katherine has served as a U.S. Congressional Field Representative for South Carolina’s First District, a North Myrtle Beach Planning Commissioner, and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association. She was a Candidate for US Congress in 2010 in District One (before redistricting created the new Seventh District this year.) She was recently named as one of “THE 45 MOST ADMIRED REPUBLICAN WOMEN UNDER 45” by The Republican Security Council – based in Washington D.C.

I asked Katherine what it was that made her decide to run for Congress and she told me that, “There is a lot of work to be done in the eight counties in our new district and in Washington. If there is fighting to be done for our American way of life and our US Constitution, I go to the fight and I don’t sit on the sidelines. I joined the Army at 19-years old and have been serving our country and my community since then.”

Katherine told me that the most important issues to her are the practical everyday issues. “The way I see it, most of us in this district – whether you are a small businessman, a family with kids in school, or a farmer – we are all getting pretty beat up by what I call ‘bread and butter’ issues – the price of gas, taxes, just getting from one month to another and trying to plan for a future that’s pretty uncertain. It’s easy for politicians to talk about fixing the deficit, reducing the deficit, or reforming Washington – I look at it a little closer to home, and one of the first pieces of legislation I plan to introduce is to put a moratorium on the federal gasoline tax and would encourage the state to do the same.”

Katherine also believes that implementing the Fair Tax would be fundamental not only to helping the everyday taxpayer to gain a foothold, but also to restoring us to a constitutional taxation system.

“Politicians will tax anything that moves, breathes, rings, sits and thinks. If ‘it’ exists, you can almost be guaranteed that there will be a politician to size ‘it’ up for taxation. Let’s get this right out in the open. A politician has never met a dollar he didn’t like. From its founding, our country operated without a personal income tax for 137 years. My bottom line on income tax may sound simplistic, but I believe that a tax on a person’s income violates the basic principals of our original Constitution and the Declaration of Independence with regard to the equality of all men. The basic principal of a free man is that he cannot be owned by another man and no man can own another man’s labor. To say that the government can violate this principal is a contradiction of our uniquely American beliefs of freedom. Once the government can sweep aside the boundary between its hand and your wallet; which is your labor, they have violated the principal of a free man.”

Katherine went on to say, “The principal of a limited government is violated by creating institutions that both increase the size of the federal government; which in turn, allows those institutions to control and limit the opportunities of a free people. I support the Fair Tax; I believe it is an idea that is a step in the right direction; especially with the overriding objective of the repeal of the 16th Amendment”

I really like how Katherine replied when I asked her about the moral social issues. “The foundation of any government is based on ideas and those ideas are anchored in a belief structure. So, what you get for laws reflects the morality of the lawmakers. So if you are living in ‘Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and he is making up the laws, you can expect that his laws will be far from the laws made in Mr. Hitler’s Neighborhood or Osama Bin Laden’s Neighborhood. The world is governed by ideas and those ideas end up becoming law.”

South Carolina, as well as America as a whole desperately needs strong proven leaders who understand our fiscal fragility and how it connects to us as a moral people. We need soldiers in the battle who will fight for us, not career politicians who fight for the status quo.

We need Katherine Jenerette at the forefront of that battle.
