NEW ORLEANS --

NEW ORLEANS (AP) The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is designating nearly 6,500 acres in Mississippi and Louisiana as critical habitat for the endangered Mississippi gopher frog the only endangered or threatened frog in the Southeast. About 100 live in the wild, and nearly 900 in zoos.

The land includes about 1,540 acres in St. Tammany Parish, La., and in Mississippi, about 3,500 acres of federal land, 264 acres owned by the state and the rest private.

Edward Poitevent, whose family owns most of the Louisiana land, has been fighting the designation. He says he cannot comment until he reads the full notice to be published Tuesday in the Federal Register.

Edward Poitevent is fighting plans by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to expropriate this family-owned timberland along Louisiana 36 northeast of Lacombe.

The Mississippi gopher frog is stocky, is about three inches long, and ranges in color from black to brown or gray, according to the Fish and Wildlife Service. It is covered with dark spots and warts. And it needs protection, the service says.

The people of Mississippi and Louisiana need to round up all of these goofyass frogs, herd them up to Capitol Hill and then demand that all those goofyass buffoons on Capitol Hill leave the premises. It’s frog country now!

Incredible. I’m still looking for the words ‘Mississippi gopher frog’ in our Constitution or Declaration of Independence.

Can’t the feds just leave people alone?

What makes me think this has more to do with the BP spill than any frog?

” and then demand that all those goofyass buffoons on Capitol Hill leave the premises. It’s frog country now! “

Well, 535 randomly selected frogs couldn’t do much worse...

They're really scarce here now. The Gopher frog is Rana Capito. My favorite yard frogs, Florida Bronze Frogs, are Rana Clamitans. I'm hoping that the recent rains will help them, they've all been hurting.

The skeeters and yellow flies would really get out of control without frogs and other predators. I know that some of you city folks don't take it seriously, but when you live in the woods you get to see what's really going on.

Bronze Frog Rana clamitans clamitans

UN Agenda 21 disguised as endangered species protection.

The purpose of Agenda 21 is to zone all private property out of existence and herd all you inconvenient human beings into high-rise containment compounds where you will be easier to inventory and track until the time for the Final Solution arrives.

Then the big-government/big-corporate global elite get to build their dachas in the Walden paradise they deserve.

Did you take that photo with an Olympus C2100UZ at F/8 for 1/60ths of a second on December 24th, 2007 at 12:59 PM?

Better frog country than multi thousand acre gated communities.

I spent half my life trying to get out of town but the city limits are chasing me.

Take two frogs to a lab. Have one lay eggs, have the other, well, however it takes place, fertilize the eggs. Don’t monkey with the eggs, and later turn the pollywogs loose. Sheesh, even a prepubescent boy can figure that one out.
