3. ObamaCare Mandate
4. ObamaCare Severability
When Obama, Pelosi, Reid lose on Obamacare, it’s going to be a very very interesting time to cook up some popcorn and watch the meltdown.
Inevitably, they are going to try to turn this into an argument to support re-election, so Obama can appoint more left wing radical liberal living-constitution judges.
3) On the ACA Individual Mandate. Again, it will just expose more of these Liberal/Progressive anti-constitutionalists judge oligarchs.
Inevitably, they are going to try to turn this into an argument to support re-election, so Obama can appoint more left wing radical liberal living-constitution judges.Certainly they won't come out publicly and admit they want "more left wing radical liberal living-constitution judges". They'll use a more "nuanced" description than that.
I suspect they won't really emphasize judicial appointments that much. They know that their base already knows that Supreme Court Justice Eric Holder is their future if they re-elect Obama, and they don't want to scare the independents with that fact.
I bet they'll react to a court loss on this issue by emphasizing how the "insurance companies and drug companies have won a major victory against the working poor and the middle class" or some such nonsense as that.
I don't think they'll be trumpeting Obama's second-term court picks. They don't want the electorate outside of their committed base thinking about that.
Heck, they don't even want some of our most articulate posters here in FR thinking about that.
It is hard to predict when the Supreme Court releases their decisions. Last week, many FREEPERS thought they were going to release them and it never happened. How do we know today is not the day after being wrong so much? I know they are on their own program but trying to figure out their schedule is like trying to figure out what stocks to buy and when.
I wish people would stop talking about the Obamacare decision like it is in the bag. I have a very nervous feeling in my gut and I trust my instincts. It’s not going to be all good news, and we may even lose on the mandate.

Absolutely! People here are talking as if it's a forgone conclusion. It's not, and at the very least people should start thinking about what will happen if it survives and how it will effect the election!
Hi, naps.
SCOTUS reportedly saves the “best” for last.
Dittos on the bad feeling! Take nothing for granted!
The longer they wait the more uneasy I get.
“How do we know today is not the day after being wrong so much?”
SCOTUSBlog has their calendar posted:
http://www.scotusblog.com/
Normally they issue opinions on Mondays and today is the last scheduled Monday in this year’s calendar (then they get a summer vacation and resume in October). However, they also announced last week that in light of the number of decisions still pending, they would add a day to this week’s calendar for decisions to be handed down. But they haven’t yet announced which day that will be. So it’s not a slam dunk that even today will be the day the Obamacare opinion is announced.
We may lose the republic... we may not... but you are correct... we do not know until they save or destroy us... and that will happen this week.

The wait begins.
I am very confident, look how it was first received, not with happy faces.
Does it have anything to do with Roberts getting a last chance to answer any dissenting opinion and they may have held closing those out?
If I read the calendar right, today is the last day.
Thanks. Good place to watch.

If it isn’t, it will be the worst decision since Dred Scott.
There is a short window, they are ending their session soon.
Yep I remember the CFR debacle
Barring fraud, even the election SHOULD be in the bag at this point. By almost any measure in use for the history of the republic, this president is an abject failure. Why it isn’t being said put loud as it would be with any other human being with his record, I’m not sure.
That's not the way I read it.
HERE is a link to a PDF version of the calendar (June 2012 is the last page of the file) and I don't see anything that would preclude decisions being released all week long and particularly on Monday or Thursday based on SC tradition.
It may be slightly nuanced but there will be no mistaking what he says. He will say this is why he needs four more years, that his work is incomplete and whatever else pops into his feeble mind.
I agree. I have to ask myself, what happens if the mandate is upheld?
Seriously. Think it through. I mean people’s reactions as well as the impact on our country, mid-term. There is no “long term” no matter how they rule so I don’t care about that.
The problem with the mandate is that the cost and penalty only applies to middle class working people and up.
“out” loud.
and whatever else pops into his feeble mindAnd don't forget: whatever pops up on his teleprompter.
I agree — Intrade rates the chances of overturn at 74% this AM — down from 78%. My own estimate of the chance of overturn is 51%. I’m slightly biased towards overturn but just slightly. Overturn is definitely not in the bag IMO, and if just the mandate is overturned, Obamacare morphs into a monster of a completely different nature.

SKIN COLOR! As biased as the media is, they would be ripping into a white president, democrat or Republican, for the mess the country is in right now. But obama is black. As the first black president, the left sees him as too big to fail. As the first black president, he must be viewed as a great success, not a failure. Thats why there is very little, if any, criticism of him from the left for keeping Gitmo open, for keeping renditions going, for having kill lists, for killing US citizens without a trial.
No. The Individual Mandate also says that the Federal Government to check everybody's bank accounts to see if you are co-operating with the mandate. To that end thousands of IRS agents were hired to look at your bank transactions to see if you have purchased health insurance.
Next they will be asking if it is insurance up to the Federal Governments standards. And the answer to that for the majority of us will be No.
Currently that standard seems to include Free Contraception, the coverage of abortion and sterilizations.
You do realize that your health coverage is in the hands of Kathleen Sebelius under the ACA Mandate? And that she can rule whether you get treatments or not and rule what will be covered and what will not be?
The Despots are here and ruling already.
I won’t hold my breath for an announcement today. Or even this week. They can put it off for as long as they want to. And I have a bad hunch that when they do announce it, we aren’t going to like it.
based on what??
If just the mandate is killed, that kills the insurance industry and paves the way for single payer commie care.
If the RATS hold either half of Congress or the POTUS, they could block any bill to overturn the rest of the law.
Either it is today or towards Thursday or Friday.
I just got back from daily mass, if my memory is correct, the AZ law will be upheild, the other three struck down.
LMAO
The old mss will be for a very rude awakening come this November.
Correction, “the old msm” is in for a very rude awakening come this November.
Thursday is the last day...no Friday.
Come on SCOTUS, I’m dying to light up the biggest, fastest cigar I can find. Then I’m going to NH to pick up some fireworks.
If Obamacare is struck down this date will be forever marked as a day I will gladly celebrate in some fashion, honking my horn, setting off fireworks, taking a day off when possible to have a barbecue.
And I would support it to be a national holiday, a say for freedom.
A day Marxism had a giant “Kick me” posted on its back.
A day that will stick to the supporters like Pelosi like a pigeon dump on a beehive hairdo.
It will be a day when all those in offices of the Communist Party USA all have simultaneous heartburn.
Oh it will be a glorious day to remember, when America stands proud and united!
There will be another round of unprecedented economic "duck and cover" as citizens, private business and corporations realize there is absolutely no way to dodge the financial bullet headed our way.
Private businesses will shut their doors, corporations will rush to protect their investor's assets possibly including mass downsizing, there will be a pronounced transfer of wealth to whatever perceptible safe financial harbors exist and quite likely a larger number of new expatriots than we've ever seen previously. Think economic Armageddon
But other than that, nothing.
based on what??
Just a bad hunch.
Dear Lord, please look favorably on America once again, and let these judges rule on the side of freedom—the same freedom that so many have sacrificed for, even to this very day.
We have lost our way as nation, but, in Your grace and mercy, may we see that You are not done with us.
Please break the hold of evil on our people, and allow freedom to triumph.
Even in the times of Israel and Judah,You would relent of Your righteous judgment if some, even only a few, could be found to stand in the gap for You.
We need Your light to shine in the present darkness.
Amen.
.
If part or all of the bill is struck down, it will be a hoot to watch Nanzi spin away.
Yes, Communist and Socialist support Democrats because they know that is the fastest way to destroy the rights of states and individuals guaranteed in US Constitution.
