Disability Ranks Outpace New Jobs In Obama Recovery [OUTRAGEOUS]

More workers joined the federal government's disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation's jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery.

The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration.

The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama's economic recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits.

I really do believe Cloward-Piven principles are being followed. I really do.

I believe you are spot on. Once your eyes are open to it, you see it happening everywhere. We cannot live through 4 more years of this.

Mrs. P. Henry is disabled by any definition. And not one of these touchy-feely, hard to prove mental disabilities, but real, honest-to-goodness, significant pain for which she requires constant, heavy duty medication. She also is covered by disability insurance that would pay her a handsome sum if she were to claim disability. However, she has too much pride and ambition and too great a sense of responsibility to go that route. Most people in our country used to be like her. Nor any more.

Sorry, but this can’t actually be blamed on zero.

Go back to the 1990’s when clintoon “ended welfare.” What he actually did was greatly expand the definition of disability. All of the people they “took off the welfare rolls” actually just went to disability.

And the trend still continues.

I wonder how many of these people are baby boomers with physical type jobs that they can’t do anymore. I always go ballistic when I hear some DC type glibly talk about raising the SS retirement age to 70, like everybody has some nice secure desk job where they can work to whatever age they want. They clearly don’t know a lot of waitresses or carpenters.

Sounds like the newly unemployed should apply for SSI right away so their 2-year wait will be covered by 2 years of unemployment.

Seems like every other person (many of them fairly young) I run into here in the People's Socialist Republik of Connecticut is either on some kind of Disability or is a retired State of CT worker. Lots of traffic out on the roads during weekdays compared to 20 or so years ago...

DEFINITELY outrageous.

I hope you never have to go to SSI disability.

That said, I am disabled and have applied. The problem for me is that I can't afford to go to the number of Doctors needed to affirm it. As much as I have tried I see no way I'll ever get it.

I really don't know how all these people qualified...but for me, I haven't.

Stay healthy and if not, well, be prepared to jump through hoops you can't begin to imagine, and then be turned down.

I'm 61, and have paid into the "system" since I was 14. I'm not trying to get "free" shit from anyone.

I really do believe Cloward-Piven principles are being followed. I really do.

How could you say that? Just because all the things they called for are happening, doesn’t mean that they cause it.</sarcasm>

Sadly, people can't seem to see Bible Prophecy unfolding either.

Could this be a finagling of the unemployment numbers to keep that figure low by not counting these newly disabled workers?

Could it also be a way to keep paying these unemployed after their jobless benefits ran out?

I enjoy watching Judge Judy in the afternoons while my kids are napping. I am always amazed at the total losers ‘on disability’ that appear before her. When asked the nature of their disability, they mumble some mumbo jumbo that they themselves don’t even believe. Most are completely able-bodied adults who appear to be fine.

The SSI Disability system is nothing more than a lawyer employment routine.

Talking with someone who works within the SS, initial claims are ALWAYS rejected. Re-application is routine, six to eight months was the norm with the attorney taking 40% of that amount. The attorneys DONT WANT anybody getting it on the first pass, cause they can’t get a massive rake out of the first payment. Federal law is written to insure these lawyers get their extortion.

Your not alone...

My wife has a laundry list of physical issues and a few minor mental problems (read my post history for more info)

If not for the fact that I can produce a income while this whole mess plays out she would be screwed.

I have seen the statements from the insurance company for the care and tests shes been given to help prove this case...

No way in heck I could pay out of pocket for that.

I take it you can’t qualify for Medicaid?
